fatiguing march, through a country almost impassa

was lost. Subsequent examination discovered to us
a hostile camp, but recently abandoned, and these
Indians were presumed to be spies from that camp.
This camp is about a mile nml a half from Roanoke,
and no doubt the Imnd-qiiarters of the Indians who
committed depredations in Georgia. Upwards of
four hundred tents were counted in the camp, and
presumed to have contained at least fifteen
