mineral fountains on the fece of the Globe.
Ttiis in no vain boitalmg; a distinguished gentlemen, ono
whe has travelled extensively iu foreign Innda, assures us,
that, while in England und on (lift Continent, he visited the
most celebrated wuieriiie places, that lie saw not one on which
Nature had been so prodigal of her gifts,as those bestowed on
the Warm Springs, in Meriwether county, Georgia.
This truly wondeiful naturul curiosity anil delightful Sum
mer retreat is situated on a spur of the Pine Afountuin, thirty*
nix miles north of (lift city nf Columbus. A fountain, gushing
forth, per minute, fourteen hundred gallons of crystal water
of90® Temperature, is indeed a raro curiosity. Its virtue,
however, ol curing diseases, which have defied the skill of the
must eminent Physicians, scents util I mom wonderful.
The ingredients of tho water, ns ascertained by accurate
analysis, are—quantity one wine pint, or 28,875 cubic inches
—specific gravity 0,998—distilled wnter being 1,000. Casks
—Carbonic ucid gas, 2 cubic inches—Sulpliurett of Hydro
gen, a trace.—Solid contents: Carbonate of Lime, 1 grain—
Ctulinnuto ol Iron, 3 0 grains—Carbonate of Alagnesiu, 10.19.
