of the “Screw Pre*-,” and nothitnr btjt dire necessity in

adding mv tettlmohy in favor ot it- emi e adaptation to
the want® of a cotton plantation. It ha® surpassed my
most sanguine expectmns. I have parked vi'h but two
ht.nds, yet I prefer four—two at each lever. Mv bales all
weighed over 500 pound-. The first lot 1 pent to market
averaged 5rti pounds. Mv impression i-. that 6**n pounds
is abont the capacity of the Press, and a greater number
of pounds subject the follow-block to too much risk, un
less the sides of the cottou box whs increase, d It would
add greatlv to the value of the Pre-s it the cotton box

Gentlemen : I have just received your letter of Feb.
ruary—upon my return to this place, after an absence of
t.vo months—and this reply may be too late for youi
“Pescriptive Circular of Ingersail’s Cotton Pres-.”
The press I used iu packing my cotton la-t year worked
admirably, packiug. with ease, 500 to 5*A*j pounds Witu
good active hands to work it, I nm satisfied that from
ebrhteeu to tweuty bales might readily be packed in a
day.
This Pres* combines the advantages of lightness, and
consequent portability and simplicity, being easily man
aged bv auy one of ordinary intelligence. Great com
pressing force, with little motive power, and “last, bnt
not least,” it is worked entirely by hand, thus saving for
the farm horses thehatd labor imposed upon them by
the ordinary “Screw.” ltespectfully, Jcc., jroure.^ ^
