Mr. Garrison, a resolution that the Committee
unFinauceand Taxation be requir' d to report
that no citizen shad l)e required to pay poll tax,
and that tha revenue ol the State skull be raised
oil ot the property of the Suitn according to
value. Referred to Committee on Finance'and

Mr. Griffin moved that the report of the Com
mittee on Printing, providing tortile payment
"t ten dollars jiereolumn.be referred back to
:i.e committee, who should he instructed to re
duce the pay ol the printer. The motion was
carried.
By Ml. Graves, an ordinance, to-wit:
Be it ordaiued dec.. That such real properly’ as
may be selected by ttie head of the family, to
include the homestead, it desired by the head of
the family, be, and ia hereby exempt from levy
and sale lor debt, except for taxes on the same.
Provide.1, That siii.li homestead shall not ex
ceed eighty acres, aud in value not above if if ecu

oember, 1807. Also, that a Provisional Gover- |
nor should be appointed by this Convention, 1
whose first duty should be to'fill by ajujointment ;
all offices thus vacated, with competent men ivlio |
can take und subscribe the oath prescribed by i
Congress. Also, that during the existence ol
said Provisional Government, and utter the vari
ous offices are filled as provided by the preceding
resolution, all vacancies occurring in said offices
shall be filled by election: Provided, however,
that no person shall be eligible lo till any office
whutever under said Provisional Government
who cannot take und subscribe the albiesiiid
oatii.
