The Mate Convention.
A special meeting of the City Council was
held on Wednesday evening last for the pur
pose of tendering a suitable hall for the use ot
the approaching State Donventiun. Mr. Hayden
moved that the City Hall, with suitable commit
tee rooms, be tendered, and that His Honor ap
point a committee to wait on General Pope hi
relation thereto. Messrs. Kawson, Cox and Hay
den were selected as that rommillee, hut we
have not leurned the result ot tlie movement
upon the part of the Council.
