AND THE

\/dr neat October, and will continue from day to
day with the'excepliou of the first Monday and Tues
day of that month. We shall then expose to sale in
Macon, to the highest bidder, in conformity with a
late act-of the Gcueral Assembly':
All the Town Lots not heretofore disposed of; being
upwards atone hundred in number; on the western
side of the riven among them are twelve adjoining
the river, and a few other uioice lots for business.
The residue arc in more retired situations, and gener
ally afford good building site's in a pleasant uud grow-
ing part of the town.
Forty two gardening l&ts of 10 and 20 acres ench;
laid out from 1 to 1 1-2 miles distant from the town in
two ranges around the Western Common. Also, 28
lots on the Eastern side: that is to say, 4 of twenty, 8
of ten acres, and 111 of one acre each.—These Inst in
clude the place somolirfies known as Newtown; and
will be sold subject to certain leases from the United
States, to expire next January.
The residoo of the lands iu the two reserves, nre
laid out in tracts of 100. acres, and fractional parts of
such tracts. Of these, the uplands will be next offer-
ed;the lowest numbers first; beginning with those on
the western side. . „ . . ,
On Wednesday the 22d of October neat, at 11 o’
clock, A. M. will lie offered at the place of the other
snips, the

together with oncacre of land op the eastern side of
the Ocmulgcc river, os one of the hutments; and the
privilege of using fit rtmch of Filth or Bridge street on
tho western bank as may be necessary for the other
hutment of the Bridge.
On Thursday the 23d of October, we shall proceed
to sell the swamp and bottom lands within “ IB Re
serves, those on the western side first; and continue
from day to day until completed. '
The particular numbers that will he sold on each
day canhot be specified; but it is intended to put tip

The Post Master General has lately receive
cd, with regret, frequent domplaints of, the miv
carriage hf newspapers forwarded-in the mail.
In many instances tho caukeVof these cum-
plaints arc believed to exist in tho priming of
fices. Tiie papers have 'hot been carefully put
up and plainly directed. But it is feared that
at some of tho Pos Offices’-tliere may have
been remisstiess in hot haVing ptit hew enve
lopes on n.'-vspaper packets where the old'ones
had become much worn and defaced,and'somu-
tinlcs iff having failed to give the proper direc
tion to tho-pa'ckms. To delay fhe ihilivery of
a newspaper is made a serious offence by the
Post/Office law. Top much attention cannot
be paid to this provision by a negfoct of it, a-
tiy post master will lose the tOulidcnco .of tlio
public and of tho Department.

Tiffs delightful dream, short as it was, has
recalled to memory, many who, after a few
ovemful years in this world, have passed to n-
nother and a brighter sphere; With the ma
terials thus afforded, I (iropose to furnish you
with an occasional essay, which should you
consider thorn worthy a place in your useful
paper, may'probably afford some amusement to
vour readers, ns it still the humble writer to re
cord them on paper, at times, which but for this,
might probably bo less usefully employed.—
