SLOOP EXPERIMENT,
FOR PASSENGER S ONLY,
Elihu S. Bunker,
BEG? Gave to inform his friend® and the public, that
he swi'l, on the fir ft of July, commence running a
,’oop, of about one hundred and ten tons burthen, be
tween the cities of NtW-YOKK and HUDSON, lor
Che purpose of carrying passenokrs.
‘Few people, who have had occasion to take passage
tip or down the North River, but have experienced the
inconvenience and rifque of going on hoard vefiels
deeply loaded and lumbered on deck ; then fore cap
tain Bunker has determined to take no freight on board
the Experiment, w hich will remedy that inconvenience
ande"tirely do away the rifque.
The owners of this vessel, being desirous to render
the passage as short, convenient and agreeable as pof
fibie, have not only taken care to furnifh her with the
heft Beds, Bedding, l iquors, Piovifions, &c. but they
have been at very great expense and trouble in procur
ing materials and bui ding her on the best construction
for faring and for the accommodation of ladies and gen
tlemen travelling onbulinessor for pleasure.
The Experiment will leave New York every Wfd-
Kesday evening precisely at 6 o’clock, and Hudlon
every Sunday morning at 8 o’clock, through the lea
fon
Captain Bunker having en several years engaged in
the freighting business between New-York and Hud
son, has become well acquainted with every part of the
river; and he hopes, by attention and punctuality, to
merit the patronage of ladies and gentlemen from the
southward, who may visit the celebrated Bailston,
Saratoga, and Lebanon Springs, or trave eis
who may have occasion to travel through the northern
states. The fhortnefsof the pafface to Hudson, when
compared with that to A.bany, or any place above
Hudson, (where the river is impeded by bars, islands
and overflows that render it mpoflihle for fall failing
vessels to pass) he thinks will induce moft people who
ate acquainted with the difference, to take passage to
Hudlon, where carriages or boats can at all times be
had at a moderate expense, to convey them to Albany,
Troy, I.anfingburgh, or the Lebanon Springs, which
are about 30 mile , distance.
