Those who take Opium and it* ordinary prepa
ration*, cannot he ignorant of the fact thut it* dis
tressing and pernicious effects result from the
operation of its deleterious principles, mid that
the tremors, languor and lassitude with which its
devotees are uffiictcd, und for which they repeat
the dose to relieve, are sensutions of its own cre
ation.
But in consequence of the exclusion of those
deleterious principle* from the Elixir of Opium, it
i* not liable to derange tiro function* of the sys
tem. nor in jure the constitution und general health;
thence its high superiority in all those cases, in
which the long continued and liberal use of Opi
ate* are indicated und necessary to nllay pail und
spasmodic action, und induce sleep and compo
sure, as incase* of fractures, burns or scalds, can
cerous ulcers, and otiffir painful affection*.
And to those person*, who, from necessity or
vitiated indulgence, have been uccustonied to the
use of Opium, this preparation will afford u gra
tifying substitute by which they may relieve them
selves from the thraldom of pernicious and too
frequently inveterate habit.
Directions for using the Elixir of Opium.
To a child a month old, or younger, give from
half a drop to a drop; to a child about six months
o:d, from 3 to 10 drops; and to adults, from 10 to
60 drops, (and even double or treble that much, if
thepainand other symptoms he severe and urgent)
mixed in two or three tea spoon's full of water,
according to the size of the dose. As the . d »i n-
istrntion of every medicine should be govotii d
by it* effects, it is proper to begin with thesmudust
dose; and increase or repeat il at proper intervuls
until the desired effects nre produced. v

upwards of a thousand years, they had baffled Un

tiro brief period of its existence, it has acquired u

•Le Cordial de Lucitie,” or, in English, ‘Mhe
Lucin t Cordial," t* a general invigorutor of the lm-
man frame, in ull t:ie various casus of languor,
lassitude und dubilitat.on, it is un unfailing reme
dy, as it is equally it* province to impart cheer
fulness and decision to the mind, as health and vi
gor to tiie body. But the peculiar virtue on which
tlWcelebrity is based, is tho fucility and certainty
wiiK which i. res ores the virile powure when they
have been destroyed by disease, time, rockiest
ness, or uny of too uuimuoUscuuaes whicu tenm
ttuto in the pro.-trution of those tuuctions.
In common with the generality of really good
mediciues, this Cordial contains nothing of u mer
curial or deleterious nature, umotig tiro tunny in
gredient* which compose it; but is, ot the sumu
time, no simple, yet so efficacious, thut while it can
renovate tiro prostrated energies of a giant, an in
fant may ttso it, not only with impunity, but with
advantage.
The usages of society arc unfortunately such
that, notwithstanding the benefit* which would bo
sure to result from it, we cannot enter into un an
alysis of this iuestmmhle Cordial here, or publish
many of the document* which have been receiv
ed, as vouchers of the plessiugs it has conferred on
numbers of despairing individuals. But tui* we
cannot forbear letiiarking—-timt it has been de
monstrated that there is scarcely ever, if any such
thing at ull, as natural barrenness, or us natural
imbecility of tiro procreunl functions in either sex;
and, therefore, thai those evils are the efi'ect* of
artificial causes, uud tnay bu speedily subdued and
removed by the use of -Lo Cordiul de Lucine."
The Lucina Cordial is aLo ail indubitable cure
for the Gieet, and the Fluor Alans, obstructed,
