A Certain Cure for Sick I lend-
Acltc«
W HICH Ims been used in families, every
member of which Ims hud sick headache
from infancy,as n constitutional family complaint,
und has cured effectually in every instance yet
known, amounting to many hundreds. It is not
unpleasant to the taste, nnd does not prevent the
daily avocations ofoue using iu it must be perse
vered in. and the cure is gradual, but certain and
permanent. Instances are constantly multiply
ing where this distressing complaint incomplete-
ly relieved nnd cured, nlthough of years standing,
by the use of Dr. Spohn’s celebrated remedy.
One decided preference is its pleasantness, hav
iug none of the nuuseating effects of common
drugs.
In all dyspeptic symtoms, costiyeness, irregu
larity, distre-v; after meals, pains in the side and
torpidity of tho liver, the cure is perfect, nnd any
one so uffljctod will become immediately convin
ced on using it, that he has at last found a “sover
eign balm for his wounds." Females are particu
larly recommended to use it for costiveness or ir
regularity, and other fetnele complaints. It is
proved to correct vitiated and disordered humors
keeping the stomach iu most perfect order. Those
persons who after an evenings indulgence at par
ties, Ac. have headache and dullness the next
duy, will find this a sure preventive if taken nt
bedtime. For all common complaints, in a few
days its virtues will be self-evident, aud a complete
cure will soon be effected. When a person bus
n cold nnd feels unwell, generally a free use of it
fora few'days will be sure to relieve without
physic or pills.. To children it may be given with
tho greatest advantage.
In nil acidity orsouruessofstomach this remedy
is sovereign nnd invaluable; ns a general family
medicine it is now adopted by many of the iiio«t
respectable fumiles. It never sickens the stomach
or produces any of the nn’»lej\<unt effects of physic.

The effects of excess in eating or drinking are
generally relieved by it. and it affords one of the
mildest and most pleasant aperients, especially
to persons who, from a sedentary life or other
causes, are under ti.*i frequent necessity of hay
ing recourse to laxatives. To persons’ of a bil
ious or n gouty habit, it may be recommended
will) peculiar proprietyiand its virtues have been
repeatedly testified in the diseases of warm cli
mates Many of the complaints of children, in
early infancy, and even nt more advanced peri-
ods, are attended with acidity; and in such cases,
the Calcined Magnesia has n great advantage
over other absorbents, viz: that it both neutrali
zes the acid in the alimentary canal, und ucts as
an efficacious yet gentle purgative.

dedly superior to otlior remedies. Persons whose
business or avocations require that they should
sit or stand much, or those of sedentary habits
generally, who mny be troubled with pains in the
side or breast, are advised to try one of these
beautiful nnd unrivalled plasters. They are dif-
Cerent from others, nnd free from objections which
are generally mnde against plasters. Perhaps
there is no medical observation better established
than that “ Consumption originates in neglected
Colds." In a climate so varinble as ours, it re
quires more care and attention to guard against
the attacks of this too often fatal disease, than
most persons are able nnd willing to bestow. It
cannot therefore but be a gratification to the sub
scriber to be enabled to offer to nil of consump

Rose Ointment,
XNOR Totter, Ringworms, Pimples on tho
JT* Face, and other cutaneousfrnptmns. Tet
ters, Ringworms, and herpetfe eruptions gener
ally, are among the most tedious and disagreeable
aflectious to which the human frame is liable.
Situated as it were, on tho verge of vitality it is
almost imporsibleto reach them by inward reme
dies. Hence the inefficacy of undergoing a course
of medicine, o* subjecting ourselves to the un
comfortable system of strict diet: such means by
reducing the system merely palliate the symptoms
while they are in practice, to recur as violently,
or more so, when n generous diet is returned to.
And the generality of external npplirationshave
no other effect than the disease in oueplace, soon
to show itselfiu the same or another part. When
all those means have failed, and in many severe
cases, a perservance for a short time in die use of
the Rose Ointment Ims proved effectual. There
is no trouble in using (applying it every night.)

■ labor, in the modicnl practice aud observation of
Fever nnd Ague. It is composed or-such modi-
ciual principles ns were considered most fit to re
store the harmony of action batweeu the stomach,
liver, and the other important functions of tho
system, the loss of which harmony is evidently the
immediate cause of the disease. It speedily pro
motes a regular nnd healthy nppntito which is
generally entirely destroyed or rendered very
precarious; by which effect, vigor aud strength is
soon afforded to the whole system. It must be
apparent to all. that a medicine possessing theso
peculiar virtues, is useful-in n great variety of
complaints. By renewing tho healthy action of
the digestive organs, it has proved n-«lf of re
markable benefit in dyspepsia, depraved appetite,
heart-burn, water brash, flatulency, jaundice,
night sweats, dysentery, bowel complaints, and
all other affections of similar origin, hut it isiu
the treatment of Fevers, and especially iu Fever
nnd Ague, or Remittent Fever, that its powers
have been principally tested, aud with those who
have seen its usefulness, It is pronounced sover
eign to all remedies heretofore discovered fo
those disenses. It Ims also been used as n pre
ventive, by many who were subject to - a periodi
cal recurrence of the chills und fever, and it has
always warded off the apprehended attack. It
was deemed not improper to accompany tho
vegetable febrifuge with a few of the many une
quivocal certificates politely furnished to tho pro
prietor,corroborative ofthe foregoing statements.

• uuscsof its being rejected by many patients.
This is Uie reason why so many experiments
have beeu uiude iu order to discover some mode
ofdisguising its taste, so that it might bo token
with lew repugnance; but hitherto this has been
but imperfectly effected, and always by addition
of some active substance which modifies its pro
perties. and thus destroys its chemical constitu
tion and its physical character. I therefore offer
a mode of administering it in such a state that it
cannot occasion the slightest repugnance, and
this without submitting it to any alteration. My
method consists in enclosing it in tiie Gelatine
Cupsulcs.
