Rowand’s Tonic Mixture, or
Vegetable Febrifuge,
A specific nnd lasting cure for Fever nnd Ague.
rjlHIS worthy remedy earnestly repels tho slur
X of being n quack medicine, it having been
the result of many years study, experience nnd
labor, in tin* medical practice and observation of
Fever and Ague. It in composed of Mich medi
cinal principles as were considered most fit to re
store the harmony of action between the stomach,
liver, and tho other important functions of the
system, the loss of which harmony is evidently the
immediate causa of the disease. It speedily'pro-
motes a regular and healthy appetite which it
generally entirely destroyed or rendered very
precarious; by which effect, vigor nnd strength is
soon efTonled to the whole ay/item. It must be
apparent to all. that a medicine possessing these
peculiar virtues, u useful in a great variety of
complaints. By renowing tho healthy action of
the digestive organs, it has proved itself of re
markable benefit in dyspepsia, depraved appetite,
heart-burn, water brash, flatulency, jaundice,
night sweats, dysentery, bowel complaints, and
all other affection* of similar origin, but it is in
tiie treatment of Fevers, nnd especially in Fever
and Ague, or Remittent Fever, that its powers
hate beeuprincipally tested, and with those who
have aeon its usefulness, it is pronounced sover
eign to all remedies heretofore discovered fo
those diseases. It ha* also beer used as a pre
ventive, by many who were subject to a periodi
cal recurrence of the chills nnd fever, and H has
always warded nfT the apprehended attack. It
was deemed not improper to accompany tho
vegetable febrifuge with a few of tho many une
quivocal certificates politely furnished to tlio pro-
F riotor,corroborative of the'foregoing statements.
or further accounts of its great usefulness, see

T HE Cnpavia Balm is, of all the medicines
employed in combating tho chronical aud
acute gonorrhceal affections, also the blennorhooa
called whites; the only ono, the specific action of
which has never been doubted, and to which
physicians have in consequence given the prefer
ence; but its nauseous lasto aud smell arn the
causes of its being roioctod hy many pntionts.
This is tiie reason why ro many experiments
have bcentnadoin ordor to discover some mode
of disguising its taste, so that it might be taken
with loss repugnance; but hitherto this has been
but imperfectly effected, nnd utivsy* by addition
of some aclivo substance which modifies its pro
perties, and thus destroys its chemical constitu
