A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the Bth feftion of the
second article of the confbtution of
this Rate, it is declared that the Governor
(hail have power to convene the general af
fetr blv on extraordinary occasions.
And whereas the legislature of this
state, at their feGion in November 180a, Re
solved, that, in the event of-the ratification of
the late treaty between the United States and
the Creek Indians, for the cefifion of certain
lands to the Rate, the Governor be requested
to convene the general affembiy as soon there
after as circumstances would permit.
And whereas I have received information
of the ratification of the afordaid treaty, and
other matters of importance require the de
liberation of the legislature—l have there
fore thought fit, to ifTue this my proclamati
on, appointing Monday the 18th day of
April next the rime for the meeting of the
general affemblv at Louifvdie the feat of go
vernment —and Ido hereby enjoin and re
quire the attendance of the several members
of the refpediive brandies thereof on the day
and the place above mentioned.
Given under my hand and the great leal
of the Pate, at the State-House in Lou
isville, this ieventeenth day of March,
in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and three, and of the

WHEREAS I have received of
ficial information from the llie
riff of Richmond county, that a cer
tain William Champion, confined un
der a charge of Murder, in the com
mon jail of the said county, did on the
27th ultimo, make his escape therefrom
—I have therefore thought lit to issue
this my proclamation, offering a re
ward of one hundred dollars, to any
person or persons who will apprehend
the said William Champion, and hit
fafely lodge in fame secure jail within
this state.
And I do hereby charge and require
all officers, civil and military belonging
to this state, to be aiding an assisting in
apprehending and securing the said
offender, so that he may be brought,
by a due course of law, to anfvver to the
charge alledged against him.
Given under my hand, and the Gr£at
Seal of the state, at the State House,
in Louisville, this fifth day
