TEMPERANCE CRUSADER.
QCOXDAll TEMPERANCE BANNER.
A CTUATED by a conscientious desire 'to
further the cause of temperance, and ex
periencing great disadvantage in being too
narrowly limited in sp«ce, by the smallness
of our paper, for the publication of Reform
Arguments and Passionate Appeals, we have
determined to enlarge it ton in re convenient
and acceptable size. And being c nsciousof
the fact that there are existing in the minds
of a large portion of the present readers of
the Banuerand its former patrons, prejudices
and difficulties which can never be removed
so long as it retains the name, we venture also
to make a change in that particular. It will
henceforth be called, “ THE TEMPERANCE
CRUSADER.”
. 1 his old pioneer of the Temperance cause
is destined yet to chronicle the triumph of its
principles. It has stood the test—passed
through the “fiery' furnace,” and. like the “ He
brew children,” re-appeared unscorched. It
has suivived the newspaper famine which has
caused, and is still causing many excellen
journals and periodicals to sink, like •* bright
exhalations in the eveniug,” to rise no more,
and it has even heralded the “ death struggles
of many contemporaries, laboring f« rthe same
great end with itself. It ‘ still lives,” and
“waxing bolder as it grows older,” is now wag
ing an eternal “ Crusade ’ against tbe “ Infer
nal Liquor Traffic,” standing like the “ High
Priest” of the Israe ites, who stood between
the people and tbe plague that threatened
destruction.
We entreat the friends of the Temperance
Cause to give us ibeir influence in extendiur
the usefulness of the paper. We intend pres
enting to the public a sheet worthy of all at
tention and a liberal patronage; for while it
is strictly a Temperance Journal, we shall en
deavor to keep its readers posted on all the
current eveuts throughout the country.

Rogers’ Liverwort & Tar,
Forcoinpiet-j curef Coughs, Colds,
luflueur.d, Asthma, Bronchitis, Spitting of
Bipod, and all other Lung Complaints
tending to Consumption.
'"IIJIIS preparation is getting into use all
over our Country. The numerous let
ters wc receive from our various agents,
•nformiug us of cares effected in their imrac-
idate neighborhoods, warrant us In saying
it is one of the best, if not the very best
Cough Medicine now before the public. It
almost invariably relieves and not unfre-
quently cures the very worst cases.- When
all other Cough preparations have failed,
this has relieved the patient, os Druggists,
dealers in Medicines, and Physieians can
testify. Ask the Agent ’in your nearest
town, what has been his experience of tbe
effects of this medicine. If be has been
selling it for any length of time he will tell
you IT IS THE BEST MEIIICINE EXTANT.
, Below we give a few extracts from letters
ive have received lately, regarding the vir
tues of this medicine.
Dr.iL S. Oalin, of Knoxville, Ga., says:—
“ 1 have been using your Liverwort and
Tar vely extensively in my practice for three
years past, and, it is with pleasure I state
uiy belief in its superiority overall othe
articles with' which 1 am acquainted, for
which it is recommended.”
Messrs. Fitxgera'd & Benners, writing
from WaynesvilJe. N. C. say:—“ The Liver
wort and Tar is becoming daily morepoput
larin this Country, and we think justly
so. All who have tried it speak iu com
mendable terms of it, and say it is very
beneficial iu alleviating the complaints for
which it is recommended.”
Our Agent in Pickens Districts. C. Mr.
S. R. McFall, assures us “that he uses it
with great benefit iu bis own family, and re
commends it to bis neighbors.” He gives
an instance of a Negro woman, in his vicini
ty, who bad been suffering with disease of
iheLiings for years, attended witbhevere
cough, who was relieve! .by the Liverwort
and Tar.
Such are the good reports we hear of this
Medicine from all parts of tiie South. For
report of the surprising cures it has per
formed in the Western and Northern and
Eatern States, we would invite the suffering
patient to read the pamphlet which accom
panies each bottle. To all, we say, have hope,

CONSUMPTION.
SUCCESSFULLY TREATED BY IN
HALATION OF MEDICATED VA
PORS.
B Y JOHNSON STEWART ROSE, M. D.,
Fellow of the Royal College of Physici
ans, and for years Senior Physiciau in the
London Royal Infirmary for diseases of the
Lnngs.
In the treatment of Consumption by In
halation, I have obtained results which war
rant die in asserting that it is now as cura
ble as di-eases of the Stomach and Liver.
Breathing medicine djrecMy into the
Lungs is certainly-the rational mode of at
tacking the disease, and like many other
great aud beneficent discoveries’ it seems
strange why suoh treatment was uot resort
ed to long ago. Where there is lite, there is
surely hope for the most seeming hopeless
cases, ns throughout all the stages of this in
sidious disease, the wonderful and beneficent
tffecteot its treatment are soon apparent. Iu
eases also of Brouchi'tis, Asthma, Ac., the
iuhaling of powders aud vapors has been
eminently successful, aud to those suffering
under any of the above named complaints,
I can guarantee speedy and certain relief. I
have pleasure in referring to 207 names,
residents of New York, and neighborhood,
who have been restored to vigorous health
About one third of tbe above number, ac
cording to the patients own statements, were
considered hopeless cases.
The inhaling Method is soothing, safe and
speedy, and consists iu the administration
of med'icines in such a manner they are con
veyed into the Lungs in the form.of vapor, and
produce their action at. the seat of thedisease.
Its praotical success is destined to revolt!r
tuuize the opinions of the medical world,
and establishe the entir curability of Con-
sumption.
Applicants will please state if they have
ever bled from the Lungs, if they have lost
flesh, have a cough, night sweats and fever
tui Qs what und how much they expectorate,
what the "Condition of their stomach and
bowels. The neeessnry Medicines, appara
tus, Ac., will be forwarded to any part,
TERMG—Five dollars, consultation fee.
Balance of fee payable only when the pati
ents report themselves convalescent.
RECOMMENDATION BY PHYSICIANS.
We, the undersigned practitioners in me
dicine, cheerfully aud heartily recommend
Dr. Roses method of treating diseases of ihe
Lungs and Throat, as the best and moat effec
tual ever introduced into medical practice. Our
couviotions are based upon having several
of ourow** patients, confirmed consumptives,
restored to rigorous health after a few
months treatment by Dr, Rose, in the above
named diseases the application of “Medicat
ed Vapors,” inhaled directly into the Lungs,
may be justly considered a great boon to
suffering humanity, rendering Consumption
J perfectly curable disease. r
Dr. Rose desctve* well of the profession
for his unwearied labors in bringing the In
haling Method to sneh a degree of perfcc-
Uon.
