A Splendid Entertainment.
On last Weduesday uigbt, it was our
great pleasure to attend an exhibition ot
Parlor Theatricals at the residence of Capt.
M. B. McGinty, given by some of the young
ladies and gt nitemen of our city, for the
entertainment of their friends.
Jioug before the hour to commence ar
rived the spacious hall was tilled to over*
Bowing with admiring spectators, alt ea
gerly awaitiug the appearance of the
“ Kritsiugles.” This is an excellent play
and was rendered in such a maimer as to
convince the audience that the partici
pants were real actors, beiug presented
with the ease and grace of professionals
rather than amateurs.
After the “ Kritaingles” was finished,
A tyuiet fauiiiy” was commenced, and,
from beginning to end, as the other, tho
acting was almost perfect.
The plays were interspersed with songs
by three ol Athens’ fairest daughters, who,
with their exquisite voices, filled the hearts
ot all present with such melodious strains
as seldomgoortal cars attend.
As soon as the programme was complet
ed, all returned to their several homes
fully satistied with the evening’s entertain-
pjebt! Our thanks are due the young la
dies and gentlemen for an invitation, as it
was the most enjoyable thiug of the kind
it has been our pleasure to attend in a long
while. JVe trust that at no distant day
the members ot this club will give an en
tertainment at Deupree Hall, for the bene
tit oi our citizens generally.

The Perfect Washer.'
This machine, patented in August last,
hr our clever old fellow citizen, Thomas
Snow, of this place, is rapidly coming into
public iavor, wherever introduced. Hav
ing heard it spoken of by persons who
have tried it, and seen it operate, we were
induced to witness a test of its merits on
Wednesday last. The action oi the maebiue
is as nearly like that ot the human hand
in washing clothing as it is possible to be
imagined. It is so constructed as to re
quire no other vessel in the process of
washing than the machine itself, and it can
be easily operated by a six year old child,
no boiling or band rubbing being necessary.
Of tW innumerable kinds tlf Washers in
vented, this is by long odds the most per-
ftet and satisfactory we have over seen.
It effectually does away with that detested
of all days—‘wash day”—iu the house
keeper’s existence, and saves innumerable
aches and pains and family jars to the un
fortunate females who have large families
to wash for by the old process. A family’s
washing of halt a dozen or more persons,
can be done with it in less thau an hour,
and with less injury or wear to the cloth
ing, than by the old process.
Mr. Snow is now putting the machine
on the market, aud he deserves the richest
success—for he has proven himself a ben
efactor to all that class of persons who
have this laborious drudgery to perform
themselves.— Walton County (Ga.) Tidetle.
