MISCELLANEOUS.
Tas Amalgamation us Languages.—There is
a growing tendency in this age to appropriate
the most exp receive wonle of other languages,
apd after awhile to incorporate them into our
osvn ; thus the word Cephalic' which is from
the Greek, sgriifyiug "lor the head,” is how
becoming popularised in oonneetivn with Mr.
Spalding's great Headache remedy, but it wit]
e»on be used in a more genera! way, ur.d Un-
word Cephalic wilt become as common as Eire
trulype and many others whose, distinctiuu as
foreign words has been worn away by common
Usage until they seem "naiiveand (a the mam»-

J-ST* IIsadacbs is the favorite sign by which
nature makes known any deviation, whatever,
from the natural state of the brain, aud view
ed in this light, it iray be looked on as a sale
guard intended to give notice of dir-ease which
might otherwise escape attention, till ton late
tow remedied; and Its indications should
never be neglected. Headaches may be claoai-
fled under two names, vis: Symptomatic aud
Idiopathic. Symptomatic Headache is exceed
ingly common, and is the precursor of • great
variety of diseases, among a hich are Apoplexy,
Gout, Rheumatism, and all febrile ditcaec*.—
In its nervous form It is sympathetic of dis
ease of the stomach constituting sMt hoidache,
of hepatic disease constituting bilious headache,
of worms, constipation arid other disorders «>t
the bowels, as well as renal aud uterine a flec
tions. Diseases of the heart are very fnquent-
ly attended with Headaches; Atiemia and
Plethora are also a fleet ions which frequently
occasion headache. Idiopathic Iie»dache in
also very common, being usually distinguished
by the name of nervous hcuaachc, ruiuetinics
coming on suddenly in a state of apparently
sound health, and prostrating at once the men
tal aud physical energies, ui.d in other in
stances it comes on slowly, heralded by dej r*t
sion of spirits or acerbity ol teiiif.*«- In nn>t
instances the paiu is in the front wf Uic head,

For the treatment of either class < ! Ileeduchc
the Cephalic Pills have been found a sun- und
sale remedy, relieving the most at u!e pains in ‘
a few minutes, and by its sub'le jh-w« r eradic

box of Cephalic Glue, no, a bottle of Prepared
Pills—but I'm thinking that’s not just ii nui- i
ther; but perhaps ye’ll be alter knowing what
it is. Ye see she’s nigh dead and gone with the -
Sick Headache, nml wants some more of that |
same as relaiv< d her before.
Druggist.—You must mean Spahiing’s Cej h-
ajic Pills.
Bridget.—Och ! sure now and you’ve sed it,

Constipation or Costiveness.
No one of the "many ills flesh is heir to” is
•o prevalent, so little understood, ami so much
neglected as Costiveness. Often originating iu
carelessness, or sedentary habila it is regarded
us a alight disorder of too liltieVDli sequence t*
excite anxiety, while in reality it is the pre
cursor aud companion of many of the mist
lalal and d&ugerous diseases ni-ii units* early
eradicated, it will bring the r!;'' cr to an un
timely grave. Among the light- : t-vilsof which
costiveness is the usual attendant, are Head
ache, Colic, Rheumatism, Foul Breath, Piles
and others of like nature, while a long train of
frightful diseases, such as Malignant Fevers.
Abcesses, Dysentery, Diarrham, Dyspepsia
Apoplexy, Epilepsy, Paralysia, Hysteria, Hy
pochondriasis, Melancholy and Insanity, first
indicate their presence in thi system by this
alarming symptom. Not untrequcntly the dis
eases numed originate in OSostlpWSD, but
take on an independent existence, unless the
cause is eradicated in an early stage. F^oin uil
these considerations it follows' tb.«i the disorder
should receive immediate attention whenever
it occurs, and no person should neglect to get
a box of Cephalic Pills on the first appearaure
of the complaint, ns their timely use will expel
the insiduous approaches of disease atid destroy
this dangerous loe to human life.
Grkat Discovxrt.—Among the most impor
tant of all the great medical discoveries of this
age may be considered the system of vaccina
tion for protection flora Small Pox, the Ccpha
lie Pill for relief of Headache, and the use of
Quinine for the prevention of Fevers, either
of which is a sure specific, whose benefits will
be experienced by suflering humanity loug af
ter their discoverers are forgotten.
NervousHeadache
By the nse of these Pills the periodic attacks
of Nervous or Sick Headache may be prevented ;
and if taken at the commencement of an at
tack Immediate relief from pain and sickness
will be obtained.
They seldom fail in removing'the Nausea and
Headache to which females are so subject.
They act geutly upon the bowels,— removiug
Costiveness.
For Literary Men, Students, Delicate Female*,
and all persons of sedentary habits, they sre
valuable as a Laxative, improving tbe appetite,
giving tone and vigor to the digestive organs,
and restoring the natural elasticity snd strength
of ths whole eystem.
The CEPHALIC PILLS sre the result of
long inveeticali^n sod carefully conducted ex
periments, Laving been in use many years,
during which time they have prevented and
relieved a vast amount of pain nfid suffering
from Headache, whether originating in tbe
nervous system or from a deranged stato of the
stomach.
They are entirely vegetable in their compo
sition, and may be taken at all times with per
fect safety without making any change of diet,
and the absence of any disagreeable fasts renders
it easy to administer them to children.
