The Government has chartered the ateamara
Baltic cud Arid to carry troopa under sealed
orders.
The Baltic will carry Barry’s company of
Flying Artillery and 90 men; and the Ariel
will carry seven or eight companies of Infan
try and Marines. These vessels will sail on
Sunday next.
The frigate Powbaftan goes In sea to mor
row morning, fully equipped and provisioned,
and will probably take three companies of
troops.
The impression at the Navy Yard, is that
Forts Fumter and Pickpns are both to be rein-
forced.
The Revenue Cutter Harriet Lane sailed to-
day.
A company of 100 man on Governor’s Is
land has received marching orders. Other
companies will speedily follow.
There are now over 2,600 troops at the dif
ferent stations In this port, (oontinnes the N.

The Commercial says that a committee of
leading politicians have had an interview with
the President and Secretary of Stats, and were
assured meat positively that the Prsaideat
contemplates no hostile movements, and that
he should not attempt to collect tbe revenue,
for tbe simple reason that Congress had with
held from bias tbe pewer to do so.
The steamship Atlantic has also been char
tered and cleared this afternoon for Brazos
Santiago, Texas, with provisions and stores.
Tha Express says that Texas is the point
where tbe troops will be landed, and they are
to be seal out at tha request of Gov. Houston,
to repel the Indians in that State.

Denver, March 25th.—The daily yisld of
gold in the mines is very rapidly increasing.
Pbe mills are nearly all getting to work, many
of them with the now gold saving process.—
The population of the Blue Ritn slope has
doubled in the last month. The district will
be a great theatre of gold mining operations.
The road over tbe snewy range between the
South and Middle Forks, is open for pack an
imals but cot for wagons. Emigrants from
the States are beginning to arrive. The weath -
er ia very fine.
tfST Washington correspondent of the Bal
timore Sun, says : Col. Mann, one of the com
missioners of tbe Confederate Slates to Europe
fer the purpose of applying for their recog
nition by European governments, was ap
pointed during Mr. Fillmore's adminstration
as special commissioner from this government
to Hungary to reeognise the revolution and
tbe independence of Hungary si a dt facto
government. Under bis instructions from Mr.
Webster, be was authorised to recognise the
revolted Slate, and would have done so could
it bavo maintaided a d*/ado government for
thirty deye. But Russian intervention
suppressed the revolt aad defeated the
object of Col. Mann’s mission. As an evidence,
however, of tbe praetice of this government
in reaard to the subjeot of recognition of re
volted provinces, he can show bis instructions
relative to the Hungarian revolt.
But the most effective argument in favor of
recognition of the seceded States will.be their
adoption of the principles of free trade, in
opposition to the avowed high protective ta
riff whiob went into operation yesterday.
