EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT, \ Moktoombbt, Ala., April 9, 1801. j To Volunteer Companies, State of Alabama : Whereat, The President of the Confederate Slates of America has made a conduioaalV©- quisitioa upon the Governor ef the State of Alabama for three thousand voluntearc, to oonsist of Infantry, with the exception of two oom panics of Artillery, to be drilled, equip ped and ready for immediate tervlcc, If re quired by the Confederacy. Now, I, A. B. Moore, Governor of said State, in consideration of the premises do is sue this my Proclamation, and make known to Volunteer Companies throughout the State, that their services win be accepted to the num ber of said requisition for a period not less than twelve months, unless sooner discharged, od condition that said companies will consent to be transferred to the service of the Confed erate States of Amerioa. Each company must consist of not less than sixty four privates, eight non commissioned officers, one Captsin and three Lieutenants. All companies who may be willing to tender their services on the condition aforesaid, are requested to give me immediate notice, and hold themselves in readiness to be called into actual service, and in the meantime to drill as often as practica ble. 1 deem it necessary to make no appeal to the patriotic citizens of Alabama to induce them to respond promptly to this call. A. B. MOORE. Secession In New Mexico. Los Veoat, New Mexico, March 12, 18G1. The stage arrived here this morning from 8anta Fe, en route for the States; and as it was about leaving here on its way in, an ex press arrived from Cauotleroy, commanding this military Department, to the commandant at Fort Union, ordering this officer to prepare for defence. On yesterday morning, about 11 o'clock, the people of the Capital, (Santa Fe.) Americans and Mexicans, en mane, seeming to have sprung up like ’’Codrnus’ men, well armed and in great numbers, at once seised and now hold Fort Morey* Col. F, declined to surrender the Fort, as was expected, and while in the act of remonstrating with the populaco, the citizen soldiery rushed upon the works, and in ten minutes they were taken pesaession of. Governor Rencher was the prime mover in these proceedings, and he now Los charge of all the militsry equipments and public proper ty. Everybody is surprised at this well con cocted and efficient coup dfarms. In brief, New Mexico now has declared for end practi cally affiliated with Texas and the South, and the United Stales is suddenly iguored and our allegiance changed. Arizona also absolves her allegiance on the Ifith inst.—Sav. Republican, 2d. The Zouaves. The second company of Zouaves, under Captain ds Bordenave, marched up from their barracks yesterday afternoon, and wera re viewed on Lafayette square, preparatory to leaving for Pensaoola. Their appearance— witk their loose red trousers, leggings, gaiters, bluejackets and fsz oape—was decidedly uni que, and withal very warlike. They appear ed to be very well drilled, and were a fine, stalwart body of men, who, we are sure, will be herd customers to meet at bayonet point. Everything about them told that, iu spite of their showy and strange dress, they meant war, aod that they were commanded by meo who knew what it was. A very notable fea ture about the company was two pretty and graceful young girls, who go with them as rt- vandiers, or, to translate it into plain English, bottle holders. They were dressed in the uni* form of thier company, and will shars its dangers and glory on the battle-field. The Zouaves sre becoming immensely popular with all the classes of our youDg men. We have heard of several oonneoted with our best Creole families who have enlisted to serve in the ranks. From sueb facts, we judge that no troable will be experienced in getting tbe full complement ef men as soon as they can be equipped. Cspt. de Bordenave was enable to embark his oompaoy yesterday, ws lesrn, on aooount of the veesel in wbioh they were to be transported not being reodv. to-day.—N. 0. Cresent, 6/n.
