Norfolk, April 20.—Our boys captured the naval magazine last night, with three tboas. and barrels ef gun powder, and vast qusntl* ties of loaded ahell and other ammunition.— Most of the powder is now half way to Rich' mood. The Cumberland lies abreast of the Navy Yard. Four hundred of her crew swear they will not fight us. We expect to eveeuate her, and then the Navy Yard ia oure, with not a man lcat yet. NoaroLK, April 20.—It now appeara that Commodore Paulding, of the Cumberland, waa the party who spiked the guns in the Navy Yard two hour* ago. He sent a flag of truce to General Taliafero, commanding in (bit city. The officer beariog the flag has been in secret conference with Tsliafero until a few minutes ago, when be returned to the Comberlend, whioh ia still at the Navy Yard. The reeult of the conference is not known. Twenty-twe sailors escaped from the Cumberland last night to our side. Aa events transpire 1 will inform you. Rumor says that Paulding threatens to shell the city, hut as jet rumor only. Norfolk, April 20.—The object of the flag was to state that Paulding will not fire ou us if we will not fire on him. This is not official, but there ia no doubt of it. Paulding has scut* tied the Mcrrimac and the Germantown, which vessels are now sinking at the wharf. Two steamers from the North threw a large body of troops this morning into Fori Monroe. Four hundred Petersburg volunteers will be here this day at 5 P. M. For the last hour the Cumberland has been throwing into the river, from her own hold, large quantaties of boxes and cases, supposed to contain small arms, taken by her from the Naval Arsenal.— The work is going on now. Its cause cannot be conjectured. Some think it is a mutiny. Baltimore Tkleuraph Office.—The su perintendent and opeiators of this office have closed, in consequence of threats against their lives. Parties came into the Baltimore office with despatches, and threatened to shoot the operators if they were not sent, while oth ers threatened to shoot them if they did. The wires are all cut between Baltimore and Phil adelphia. J. R. Dowell, Superintendent from Washing ton to New Orleans, has been arrested by the authorities at Washington, for announcing himself a Secessionist. He is a Virginian by birth. The mails are all stopped. A bridge, a mile long, has been out all to pieces. Norf;lk. April 20; 6.40 A. M.—Paulding has just now cut down the shears in the Navy Yard, and ia destroying the gates of the Dry Dock. I doubt not that all the ship houses and timber sheds will he in flames before morning. Oh! that a Pickens or a Beaure gard could he over us. NoaroLK, April 20; 5 P. M.—It is McCau* ley, and not Paulding, who is in command of the Navy Yard, and the Cumberland. Four hundred and fifty Virginia Troops have just arrived with four six pounders. Nortolk, April 20, 11 P. M.—They teem to be very busy at the Navy Yaid. We have heard them as though busily breaking up things, half an hour ago. From what 1 have learned sinoe nine o'clock, I think it doabtfal whether the Pawnee brought many troopa to the yard. It was nearly dark when she pass ed our wbarvoe. My idea is that before morn ing she will take half the orew on the Cum berland. Norfolk, April 20.—Two messengers, one after the other, have just come over from Portsmouth, to report that some of the Feder* al forces are now going out from the Navy Yard towards the Petersburg Railroad, it be ing supposed that their object is to destroy the bridge.
