The Baltimore American confirms the report ef the)aeuttfiag of the Pennsylvania, the Col nin th# Delaware, the Raritan and the Meri- mac, at Norfolk Navy Yard, by orders of Com modore Pendergrast. The PocahonUe and Cumberland are the only Teasels saved. They will carry away the Government force#. The Ship houses are being torn down, and factorise levelled, with the intention of firing and aban doning them. Tbo Mayors of Norfolk and Portsmouth, on Saturday night, sent a flag of truce to Commo dore Pendergrast inquiring if he intended to Are on their oities; and be replied, that if fired npoq, or if thq Navy Yard was attacked, it would be hie duty to teturn the fire. The excitement is intense. The women and ehildren are flying, and the men are rallying to arms. The Market*. Naw 0m.bans, April 24 —The sales of Cotton to-day reached 1,250 bales, at an average of 11 cents. The sales for the last three days amoun ted to 4,000 bales. Receipts, 10,000 bales— ■bowing a decrease of 7,600 bales. The receipts in all the ports ore .137,600 bales, against 786,- 640 last year. Freights in British vessels, I. Mobile, April 24.—There were 311 Dales of Cotton told to-day ; and 050 bales for last three day* Receipts, 2,000 bales. Freights in British vessels 1 cent. Rehcountre.—We regret to state that a personal rencountre took place last evening, just before dark, on Church street, between Mr. John Lellyett and Col. V. K. Stevenson, in tbs course of which tbs latter waa shot in tbs arm by Mr. William Lellyett who was in company with his brother when the difficulty occtrred. The affair waa altogether unpre meditated. MONETARY: No change to quote from yesterday. River News* Nahrvilln, April 21.— 1 The river at this point ia falling, with sufficient water for the largest steamers. Ths arrivals sinoe our last have been the Minnetonka from Paducah, the Noble Ellie from Burksvillo, and ths Glenwood from Cin cinnati. The departure# were the John Gault for Lou isville, and the Minnetonka for Paducah. The Glenwood had a large freight, inoluding that bacon which the mob at Cincinnati threat ened to take. Capt. Frasier informs ns that he left the wharf during the night, thus giving the mob the slip. On reaching Madison and Aurora, the boat waa searched for arms, but nothing of the kind being found, they were al lowed to proceed. The Glenwood, taking eve rything into eoneidaration, had a pretty excit- 'ttUa-ar James Johnson will leave New Orleans on Wednesday for this port. The Gen.
