The schoon er Canton, laden with Rice and Peas, was or dered off. Mortoomeey, June 1.—H. H. Perkins, a member of the Clinch Rifles, of Augusta, died yesterday afternoon from the bite of an adder. His body, under escort, is eu route for Augusts. Washington, June 1.—The steamers Presi dent and Anaooeta, engaged the battery at ac quis Creek, again yesterday. Two war vessels have been ordered to go to their support James Walton has been appointed Minister to Brasil. Alexandria has been opened as a Port of Entry. One hundred thousand cartridges were sent to Fortress Monroe to-day. The invading column was ordered to occupy Fairfax Court House, before daylight this morning. Tbe column immediately advanced. The War Department was open all night to hear the result from Acquis Creek. Baltimoes, June 1.—Ex-Governor Pratt has been arrested and taken to Washington. Ex- Governor Lowe has also been arrested. Chicago, June 1, P. M.—Senator Douglas is still sinking. Naw-Yonx, June 1.—It ia reported that tha Garibaldi Guards thrsw down thair muskets, saying they would have rifles or nothing.— Two were shot; balance conluded to taka muskets.
