Thi* Battle of Fort Bonelson.—
Forces Eng-aged and Surrendered.
We have managed to obtain an authentic
list of the troops engaged in the battle of
Fort Donelson on the lf>th insr., al! of whom,
with the exception of escaped stragglers,
surrendered with Gen. Bnckner on the day
following.
Gen. Pillow’s division included Gen. Floyd's
brigade, and was composed as follows, (we
give them as they were located in the
intrenchments from left to right :)
20th Miss, regiment—Maj. Brown, 1 ~ . „ .. .

63rd Tenn. regiment—CuL Winston
42nd Tenn. regiment—Col. Quarles, | .Commanding.
10th Tenn. regiment—Col. Hetman, J
Gen. Buckner’s command constituted on-
right wing, and w»9 composed of Ihe follow
ing regiments:
Second Tennessee regiment.
Fourteenth Mississippi regiiueul.
Third Tennessee regiment.
Eighteenth Tennessee regiment.
Thirty-Second Tennessee regiment.
Capt. Frank Manney’s Tennessee battery
was also engaged in the fight, but we are uoi
advised as to its position.
Brig. Gen. B. R. Johnson, of Kentucky,
assisted Gen. Pillow in the command of his
division on the day of battle.
Our total loss will thus be seen to be twen-
tyxtbree regiments of infantry and two bat
teries of light artillery, of which nine were
from Tennessee, six from Mississippi, three
from Virginia, two from Kentucky, one from
Texas, one from Alabama, and one from Ar
kansas.
All accounts concur in establishing the fact
that no battle that ever transpired on Ihe
American continent was more terrific, more
fruitful of deeds of daring and valor, m-
more.hardly contested than that at Fort Don
elson on Saturday the 15th of February,
1862.—Memphis Appeal, Feb. 21.
