Babtow Hospital, Savannah, Ga., April 23,1862.
Gentlemen: In reference to your plaster, we use nothing
else, wo have nothing else, we need nothing else. It is con
sidered indispensable In field snrgeiy—as the common ad-
heslve plaster cannot be used on the field without giyai
inconvenience. I most cordially endorse every worn that
has been said or written in its praise -

Gentlemen: I have tested your Isinglass Plaster and
find it an excellent article; possessing, as you 3ay, tenacity
with flexibibility. I take pleasure in tecommending it to
army Surgeons, to be used In all cases where this kind of
Blaster is indicated. Very respectfully,

Gentlemen: I have made a trial of Danforth’s Isinglass
Adhesive Piaster, and am pleased to say that I regard it in
all respects superior to Husband’s. It has an additional
claim upon the profession of the Confederacy in being of
home origin and manufactni e.

NOTICE.
C. 8 ENGINEER’S OFFICE, |
SaVAXSAB, Ga., July 22, 1862. j
M ANY inquiries having been addressed to this office as
to the conditions of exemption from contributing
labor to the defence of Savannah, the Brigadier Ueneral
commanding instructs me to state:
1st. That while the planters of the middle rounUes will
be those specially called upon, those of the seaboard coun
ties will not be cousideied by any means entirely exempt.
2d. That a previous contribution of labor for a less term
than one month will not exempt any planter from the pre
sent contribution.
8J. That wherever planters have been compensated for
their previous contributions of labor to the coast deftness
by exemption during the year from road duty, or by other
exemption in kind, they will be considered as bailug al
ready received an equivalent for their former contributions,
and will therefore be required to furnish labor in response
to the present call.
4th. As the works approach completion, and (he labor
ing force Is reduced, those negroes will first be discharged
whose masters had contributed to the coast defences pre
viously to the present call.
The Brigadier General commanding alsoAostructs me to
state that he earnestly hopes that the planters will hold
meetings iu the several cuuuties, and apportion the con
tribution of labor among themselves, and relieve him from
the most unpleasant duty of resorting to forcible seizure.
A contribution of 20 per cent, of the laboring torce of
each county will soon supply abundant labor to bring the
works rapidly to completion. Women will be received as
laborers np to a number amounting to 10 per cent, of the
whole laboring force, after which no more women will bo
received.
Wherever the planters of a neighborhood make up a
gang of 100 negroes, they may elect their own overseer of
said gang, and he will be employed in that capacity by this
'fflee. JNO. McCEADY,
