And then you name, upon my foul— a Wife.
A claim to lortime's gifts, is not your care,

And angels lhapes.the grace sos fine forms

Is not rccquired by you, dear lir, you know,
And as to age, conclude below a lcore ;
Her height live feet, an inch or little more :
A preference to domcltic life, mull (how,
Nor run for ever at masquerades (o low ;
Scolding—God blefsus! Was ever wife denied
her privilege ?
Which is, to fir* and to drink beveriJre.
Freedom from pride, conns next in order,
And then you’ll live without, difordcr ;

What ! nothing elfc to do, but scour a pot I

Redoubled bluflies, in her countenance glow.
Accomplilh’d, Sir, you next invite,
An aycomplifhed nymph, you to delight :

Indeed, you think, the fair will be cull’d and

Ji Ftiglijh blood, is what you desire and claim,*
Seek it not here, its luilre's dull, and itiliits

dot if Columbia’s daughters in your eyes,
All iair and virtuous, merit well the prize
Os bappinefs here, and in the vale of life,
Give mutual comlort, free from care and ftriie.
The clouds of winter, and the (forms of fate
May lour and blow, free from the pangs of hate,
Tho’fliivering gales, and bleak liorth-eaftern

Unroof our barns, and convey alarms—--
Kleil with the eftecin and mutual imiles of each,
Defy the little cares of life, each other teach—

worth docs flow,
Unruffled at the cares, mutative earth and all
her funs does know :
Here s then the fair, who with unconscious
charms,
Nias chain’d my fu;i!, and beat up loves alarms ;
An eager gi’atp, no doubt you’d inaketo obtain,
Kut, Sir, belivC me, all your efforts vain.
Maria then has power to looth, to case the
wound,
Inflicted by a fHaft which pierc’d profound,
Her Ji.u ms, relief can give to that pain,
Which Hows from celibacy,.but flows not in

Voi he delerving, shall gain Columbia’s pride,
ho m retirement does her beauty hide,
Here then we fee, on terms a wit r. fupplud.
