A WORTHY GOVERNOR
We copy the following anecdote
from the Harrisburg Common
wealth. The “Sawed Leg” has a
reference to Mr. Baroitz. of York
county. He was wounded io the
revolutionary War. in the knee, and
the bullet lodged in the joint, where
it remained until 5 or 6 years since,
when it wa* extracted. The limb
was subsequently amputated, iVlr
“Barphz was appointed to the office
which he bolds by Governor Mill’d,
nn(j, although a decided Federalist,
bus been deservedly continued by all
the sui sequent Governors
Georgetown .I hssenger .
u Among the applicants tor the
oOi. c of Register nod Recorder, of
Y k Bounty, in Pcansylvania.tiiere
happened to* !>e one more trouble
some t bis Excellency (Governor
Snri.Tz) than the rest, who petti
ru ii'udv insisted on she rem *va! of
the present incumbent. He urged
]v - pretensions with so much itn
p ridntty that the Governor became
i;t:wntiefil and, on the applicant’s
referring him to the nredentials bo

deliberately went to hi? bureau, and

be procured, you shall certainly re
