W hen the throat is nln-ctcl, any of the ordinary gargle* may be used, and the surface bathed, as thought advisable. In one case, on the ship Duchess d’Orleun-, tlie tongue and faueus were so much swollen that tlie patient could not swallow or speak, and he was cured by dropping the Fluid on his tongue, drop by drop, till he could swallow, when it was given in teaspoonful (loses every hour, till all alarming symptom* disappeared. The .swelling of the throat was reduced so ax to enable hint to take nour ishment in about twelve hours by the Fluid alone.— Used to wet the throat frequently, it is donJitlcHH the best gargle iu all such cases. Puerperal or Cliildbcd Fever. This heretofore painful, dangerous aud nhauling malady to which the mother is liable, will yield to the Negative Klectric Fluid with such readiness, ns to seem to be of little consequence. A single dose or two of a teas|Ks.iuful. almost invariably giving entire and per manent relief; no alarm need he entertained, us the Fluid will arrest it ill a short time, it should bu re peated um long as the fever, continues, ns in other cases. The bowel* of coura* should be attended to. In connection with this subject, 1 cannot refrain from making a few general remarks, which, if regarded by the ladies, will sove them much puiu and suffering. It is to inform them of the happy effect of the Fluid in many of tlielr trials. Iu child-birth, its relaxing and sixithing effect deprives the labor oi much of it , pains and difficulties; it must Is- tried to lie appreciated.- l’aiutul menstruation will bu relieved at once by a com mon dose aud retiring. Restlessness, nervous irritability, or a coid taken at a delicate time, is easily relieved by its use; iu short, it'is one of the most convenient and effect ual remedies for many of the ills of females, if not tlm iiios.t so of any medicine known. Its utfoet is uniform, relaxing the whale system, removing sll excitability aud irilability of tho nervous as well as the circulatory. 1 It will not force sleep like opiates, but it will smith and quiet the systum so that one con sleep naturally and healthy; bonce its use iu so many cases. Synopsis. To avoid constant repetition, and condense the treat ment a* much as possible, 1 give under this head general directions for all cases. Ah the Negutive Electric Fluid will change tbo condition called fever, or subdue and control U under all circumstances, without regard to the name It may be or ought to bo called, it should be given wherever or whenever it exists; .yet it cannot bo ex pected to control all organic or loral causes, which, when such exist, must be rumored in order to cttect a permanent cure. When such indications occur in any case, they should b appropriate means, and these sohuld be given while givlug the “ Fluid,” aud In conuectloii with it. when occasion requires, as they will then more readily act, producing more geurral effect, besides uo uuuecessarv time will then be lost As the‘,Fluid” alone will sub due the Cover, I call all else auxiliary treatment. If the bowels are costive, give a cathartic (see auxili arlsa) with the first dose, or soon after, and should it fall to operate iu due time, repeat the dewe; if attended with diarrhoea, give something know n to be good for that complaint, though if caused by irritability, tho Fluid” will soon relieve tlmt condition; if severe local psln or iuflsiumntiou, apply some stimulating liniment, a mustard plaster, a blister, fomentations or hitter herbs, or, perhaps, cloths wet in cold water, to the part: if violent paiu in the bead, apply cold water, ice water. If convenient, or some cooling’ application, and bathe the feet in hot water; if the fever Is very high, skin dry and hot, with great suffering, sponge or bathe tho whole surface with water at au agreeable temperature; “tlie saline waab,” vinegar and water or spirits aud water, either will afford great relief and aid the medi cine in taking effect, after which there will b no trou ble; if the patient him been reduced or is much prostra ted, give tonics uud stimulants, particularly in low fevers, in absence of fever or when indicated; aho, during couvalesconce, when the paticut lias become re duced ; if there is nausea and vomiting, that must be allayed before any medicine will remain on the stomuciv to'do MV good; for this purpose 1 generally give wiir.o gentle emetic to cleanse the stomach; warm water, if given plentifully, will answer everv purpose; when the stomach has settled, give the “Fluid” aud a cathartic if necessary ; iu short, treat all the prominent symptoms us you would under any other circumstance*, giving tho “Fluid” at the same time as directed, aud success will crown your efforts; indeed, you cannot realize it till yon have seen, aud then you will be astonished at the ea-o with v.-hich you can control all febrile excitement.
