I The Wheat Crop.
Richmond Dispatch thinks the present
“ t cro p in Virginian the most unequal,
g there has been for some years. In
if localities there are every grade of sue

.. have occasioned this. Some fields have
’ utterly destroyed, while very near them
of the very finest Wheat have been reap.
’ llte crop on the whole is a short one.—

ed of course the data is too imperfect and I

Fall of a Scaffold
Vesterday morning a portion of the seaffold-

Self-Counting Yard Stick.
\ patent has been granted for a very conven
sutarticle to dry goods merchants. It is a self
ounting measure. It is graduated by brass
ails in the same manner that counters now are,
xcept that in the place of one of the brass
ails— the one where the hand ordinarily term
lates in counting yards—is a knob, which is
lightly pressed by the finger or thumb, and a
ointer counts and registers the number of
aids measured. This is very convenient in
ase the clerk desires to entertain his customers
1 conversation while lie is measuring goods,
talso avoids liability to error in counting.
Wood’s Hair Restorative.
The many testimonials in favor of this ex

PROFKHSOU \\utIll-
Dear Sir- I take pleasure iu bearing voluntary tes
tiinouy to the excellence ol your Hair llesto!*ativo. Three
months ago my hair was very gray. It is now a dark
brown, (the original color,)smooth and glossy. The only
application I have made to it, has been tin Hair Uesto
rutive prepared by you, and w hich, from the result in
my own cum*, I can most cordially recommend toother
Respectfully, yours. EDM WOLCOTT.
ViW’KNNM, lu.. June 21, 1860.
PROF. O. J. \\OOD—
As you are about to niAiiufacture and vend youi r<
cently discovered Hair Restorative, i will state, sot
w luunsoevcr it may concern, that I have used it. and
known others to use it that 1 have, for several yeurs,
been in the habit of using ether Hair Restoratives, and
that l find yours vastly superior to any other I know
It entirely cleanses the head of dandruff, and with one
month's proper use, w ill restore any person's hair to tho
original yoiyhfid color and texture, giving it a healthy ,
soft and glossy appearance; and all this, without di:>col
cling the hands that apply it, or the dress on which it
drops. I would, therefore, recommend its use to every
one desirous of having u line color and texture of hair
Respectfully, yours, WILSON KING
St. Lotus, June 20, 1853.
PROF. WOOD
As you are about to prepare and vend your recently
discovered Hair Restorative, andas you request my opin
ion of it. I will state, that my hair was. a few months
ago, very gray, and after using two bottles of your Unit
Restorative, it resumed its original color; and since it
application, all dandruff has disappeared from my head,
and l have been troubled with no disagreeable Itching ol
the scalp. lam satisfied that those who use It will not
regret it. as if gives flic hair the appearance of having
been recently oiled. lam prepared, therefore, to recoin
monll its use to all w ho are desirous of liavinga beautiful
head of hair. I am, sir. yours, etc.
11. L. STEW ART
PROF. WOOD
Dear Sir My hair had, for several years, been be
coming prematurely gray, accompanied by a harshness
which rendered the constant application of oil necessary
in dressing it. When 1 commenced using your Hair Re*
torntive, about two months ago, it was in that condition :
mid having continued its use till within the last tinea
weeks, it has turned to its imftirnl color, and assumed a
softness and lustre greatly to he preferred to those pro
diiced by tin* application of oils or any other preparation
I have ever used. I regard it as an indispensable article
for every lady’s toilet, whether to la* used asa Hair Res
torntive, or for the simple purpose of dressing or heauti
tying the ludr. You have permission to refer to me all
wbo entertain any doubt of its performing all tlud is
claimed for it. ‘ MRS. ('. SYMONDS.

PROF. O. J WOOD—
Allow me to attest the virtues and ningie powers id
youi Hair Restorative. Three mouths since, being ex
ceedlngly gray, I purchased, nnd soon commenced to use,
two bottles: and it soon began to tell, in restoring the
silver locks to their native color, and the hair, which was
before dry and harsh and falling off. now became soft
and “glossy, nnd it ceased falling; the dandruff disnp
pen red, and tin- scalp lost all the disagreeable itching,
so annoying before, and now . I not only look, hut feel
young again. Respectfully, yours, etc.
