COLUMBUS WEEKLY SUN.
T. W. LANE AND T. DE WOLF,
EDITORS.
THE DAILY SUN being now established on a basis,
broad enough and strong enough, to secure its per
manence, we have determined to carry out our long
cherished intention, the establishment of a
WEEKLY PAPER.
THE WEEKLY SUN, will be made up from the choic
est matter of our daily; like it, will ‘maintain a strict
neutrality as to party and creed; and like it, will contain
all the latest and most interesting up to ;
the hour of going to press.
On the first of September next, wo shall have in suc
cessful operation, liberal
TELEGRAPHIC ARRANGEMENTS,
which will enable us to lay before our readers the very i
latest news, Foreign and Domestic, Commercial, Politi- j
cal and Miscellaneous. Wo might enlarge at great
length, upon our intentions; but preferring performance ■
to promises, we shall endeavor to have the “SUN” make
its own .way exclusively upon such merit as it may be
found to possess.
Before embarking in this project, which will be an ex
pensive and laborious one, we desire to have some guar
anty of its success. We therefore invite subscriptions
and invoke the aid of our friends ; and so soon as
OUST IE THOUSAND
reliable names shall be procured, the first number will
be issued and promptly mailed. Then, but not till then,
payment will be expected of all subscribers.
Wo shall adhere strictly to the advance CASH SYS
TEM, not only for our own, but our readers’ good. Eve
ry reader is interested in this system; for it is the only
one by which a journal can be successfully established,
and its interest and usefulness maintained.
The Weekly Sun will be a large and handsome sheet,
printed on good paper, and containing a larger amount of
reading matter, adapted both to specific and general
wants and tastes, than any paper in Western Georgia,or
the State of Alabama. Advertisements will not be al
lowed to encroach upon our reading matter, except to a
very limited extent.
Subscription Price, $2.50 per annum, invariably in ad
vance.
Liberal inducements are offered to Postmasters and
Agents, who will interest themselves to increase our
circulation —inducements that will enable men of enerj
gy to reap real benefit from their efforts in our behalf
Upon this point full particulars may be obtained by ad
dressing THOMAS DEWOLF.

LOOK OUT FOR THE
SCOUNDREL AND THIEF,
JOHN W. BEACKLY alias BELL,
A BOOK BINDER BY TRADE,
WHO I have reason to believe is now skulking about
Russell county, Alabama. Having by false repre
sentations obtained credit of our merchants for dress and
jewelry to deeorate himself and wife, he was arrested by
Some of his creditors and held to bail. I was induced by
necessity for his service in my bindery and professions of
a desire to have an opportunity to make the money to hon
orubiy relieve himself, to become his hail. He failed to ap
pear and forfeited his hail, leaving me liable for sums in
tlie aggregate, of over two hundred dollars. His entire
debts in this city obtained under the above related cir
cumstances, amount to over six hundred dollars.
Having no time to waste in pursuit of this double re
fined scoundrel, I offer a reward of fifty dollars for his |
apprehension and delivery to the Sheriff of Muscogee i
County, Georgia. Late revelations satisfy mo that the 1
Penitentiary is his proper place.
1 caution the public wherever lie may go, to be on I
their guard against him, as he lias never been known to
pay a debt. The trade every where will do well to look
out for and steer clear of him.
DESCRIPTION.—He is 35 or 38 years of ago, five feet |
10 or 11 inches in height, lias very irregular filthy look
ing tront teeth, and usually wears a terrier looking j
moustache. THOMAS DE WOLF.
Columbus, Ga., Aug. 2,1856. Proprietor Daily Sun.
The New Orleans Picayune. Louisville (Ky.) Courier,
Cincinnati Sun, and Philadelphia Ledger, will each give
the above one insertion, and forward their bills to me j
for payment.

C. R. It. Office, Vandaua, June 21. 1864.
PROFESSOR WOOD—
Dear Sir—l take pleasure in bearing voluntary tes
timony to the excellence of your llair Restorative. Three
months ago my hair was very gray. It is now a dark
brown, (the original colur,) smooth and glossy. Tlie only
application l have made to it, bus been tlie flair Resto
rative prepared by you, and which, from the result in
m,v ow n case, 1 enu most cordially recommend to others.
Respectfully, yours, EDW. WOLCOTT.
Vincennes, la., June 21,1863.
PROF. O. .1. WOOD—
As you are about to manufacture and veud youi re
cently discovered Hair Restorative, I will slate, foi
whomsoever it may concern, that I have used it, and
known others to use it—that 1 have, for several years,
been in tlie habit of using ether Hair Restoratives, and
Hint 1 find yours vastly superior to any other 1 know.
Jt entirely cleanses the head of dandruff', and with one
month's proper use. will restore any person’s liair to tlie
original youthful color aud texture, giving it a healthy,
soft and glossy appearance ; and all this, without discol
oring tlie hands that apply it, or the dress on which it
drops. I would, therefore, recommend its use to ever)
one desirous of having 11 line color and texture of hair.
Respectfully, yours, WILBON KING.
Bt. Louis. June 29,1853.
PROF. WOOD—
As you are about to prepare and vend your recently
discovered Hair Restorative, and us you request my opin
ion of it, 1 will state, that my liair was, a few month*
ago, very gray, and after using two bottles of your Huh
Restorative, it resumed its original color; and since its
application, all dandruff has disappeared from my head,
and I have been troubled w ith 110 disagreeable itching ol
tlie scalp. 1 am satisfied that those who use It will not
regret it, as it gives tlie liair the appearance of having
been recently oiled. lam prepared, therefore, to recoil:
mi ml its nso to all who are desirous of having a beautiful
head of hair. J am. sir. yours, etc.
11. L. STEWART
PROF. WOOD—
Dear Sir—My liair had, for several years, been b
coming prematurely gray, accompanied by a harshness
which rendered the constant application of oil necessary
in dressing it. When 1 commenced using your Hair Res
torative. about two months ago. it was in that condition
and having continued its use till within the last time
weeks, it has turned to its natural color, and assumed a
softness and lustre greatly to he preferred to those pro
duced by the application of oils or any other preparation
J have ever used. I regard it as an indispensable article
for every lady’s toilet, whether to be used asallair I’fs
torative, or for tlie simple purpose of dressing or bouufi
lying the hair. You have permission to retd’ to me ail
who entertain any doubt of its performing all Hint is
claimed for it. MRS. C. SYMONDB.

before dry and harsh and falling off, now became soft
