Hon. Percy Walker, of Alabama.
In the House of Representatives on Wed
nesday, Mr. Walker, (lv—N.) of Alabama, ac
counted for liis presence at the Philadelphia
American Convention, and assigned his rea
sons why he could not support Fillmore, who, he
said, adopts the leading idea of the Americnu
platform, condemnatory of the repeal of the
Missouri Compromise. All the Northern
friends of Mr. Fillmore, with the exception of
Mr. Valk, were hero found voting its restric
tion; besides, the larger part of the American
party in the North is absorbed in the dirty
pool of black republicanism.
Mr. Allison, (nigger worshipper) of Penn.,
asked Mr. Walker whether he would consider
it a sufficient cause for a dissolution of the
Union if, in the next election, the people send
a majority to Congress favorable to the resto
ration of tho Missouri restriction.
Mr. Walker replied that he was no disunion
ist, but in the event to which Mr. Allison al
luded, his voice should ring a dissolution of
the Union. He should, however, invoke Hea
ven to avert so dark a day. Mr. Fillmore's
and Mr. Buchanan’s past course was distaste
ful to him, but under the present circumstan
ces he would support the candidate of the de
mocratic party as more conservative than Mr.
Fillmore.
In the House of Rcpreseutatives, on \§ed
nesdav, Mr. Whitney, of New York, introduc
ed a bill providing for the purchase of Mount
Vernon for a military asylum. It meets witli
general favor, but will not be considered this
session.
Francis P. Blair, jr., just elected to Congress
from the St. Louis district, on the Benton
ticket, is a son of Francis P. Blair, Esq"., of
Maryland, and occupies nearly, if not quite,
the same position on the slavery question as
his father.
The Emperor Napoleon lias sent from Plotn
biers a circular to the perfects, ordering them
in positive terms to allow to all Protestants
within their respective districts the free and
undisturbed exercises of their religion.
J Is lias been determined by the Executive
Committee, of the Baptist denomination, to
change the place of publication of the Chris
tian Index, from Penfield to Macon, Ga.

most of whom are from the Southern States.

In to-day’s paper will be found an advertise

Restorative has not been long before the pub

professor Wood—
Dear Sir —X take pleasure in bearing voluntary tes
timony to the excellence of your Iluir Restorative. ‘1 hri c
months ago m.v hair was very gray. It is now a dark
brown, (the original color,) smooth and glossy. The only
application I have made to it, Ims been the Hair liesto
rativo prepared by you, and which, from the result in
my own case, 1 can most cordially recommend toothers
Respectfully, yours, EUW. WOLCOTT.

PROF. O. .1. WOOD—
As you arc about to manufacture and vend your iv
cently discovered Hair Restorative, . w ill state, for
whomsoever it may concern, that l have used it, and
known others to use it—that 1 have, for several yearn,
been in the habit of using ether Hair Restoratives, and
that 1 find yours vastly superior to any other 1 know
it entirely cleanses the head of dandruff, and with one
month’s proper use, will restore any person’s hair to the
original youthful color and texture, giving it a healthy,
soft and glossy appearance; and all Ibis, without discol
oring tlie bands Hint apply it, or the dress on which it
drops. 1 would, therefore, recommend its use to every
one desirous of hnvinga fine color and texture of hair.
Respectfully, yours, WILSON KING.
St. Louis, June 29. 1853.
PROF. WOOD—
As you are about to prepare and vend your recently’
discovered Hair Restorative, and as you request my opin
ion of it, 1 will state, that my hair was. Blew mentli.-
ago, very gray , and after using two bottles of your liaii
Restorative, it resumed its original color; and since it
application, all dandruff has disappeared from toy head
and l have been troubled witli no disagreeable itcliing oi

regret it. ns it gives tlie lmir tlie appearance of having
been recently oiled. lam prepared, therefore, to rccom
mend its use toall who are desirous of having a beautiful
bead of hair. I am. sir. yours, etc.
H. b. STEWART.
PROF. WOOD—
Dear Sir—My liair had, for several years, been b>
coming prematurely gray, accompanied by a harshness
which tendered tlie constant application of oil necessary
in dressing it. When 1 commenced using your Hair Res
torative, about two months ago, it. was in that condition ,
and having continued its use till within the last three
weeks, it lias turned to its natural color, and assumed a
softness and lustre greatly to be preferred to those pro
ducecl by tlie application of oils or any other pieparation
1 have ever used, i regard it as an indispensable article
for every lady’s toilet, whether to lie used ns a Hair Res
torative, or loi the simple purpose of dressing or beauti
tying tlie hair. ‘ You have permission to icier to me all
who entertain any doubt of its performing all flint is

PROF. O. J. WOOD—
Allow me to attest the virtues anil magic powers oi
youi liair Restorative. Three months since, being ex
ceedingly gray, i purchased, and soon commenced to use,
two bottles; and it soon begun to tell, in restoring the
silver locks to their native color, and the hair, which was
before dry and harsh and failing off, now became soft
