COLUMBUS WEEKLY SUN.
T. W. LANE AND T. DE WOLE,
EDITORS.
THE DAILY SUN being now established on a basis,
broad enough and strong enough, to secure its per
lnaneuce, wo have determined to carry out our long
cherished intention, the establishment of a
WEEKLY F.A.IL’EIIR
TIIK WEEKLY SUN, will bo made up from the choic
est matter of our daily; like it, will maintain a strict
neutrality as to party and creed; and like it, will contain
all the latest and most interesting nows received, up to !
the hour of going to press.
On the first of September next, we shall have in suc
cessful operation, liberal
TELEGRAPHIC ARRANGEMENTS,
which will enable us to lay before our readers the very
latest news, Foreign and Domestic, Commercial, Politi
cal and Miscellaneous. Wo might enlarge at great
length, upon our intentions; but preferring performance
to promises, wo shall endeavor to have the “ SUN ” make
its own way exclusively upon sucli merit as it may he
found to possess.
Before embarking in this project, which will he an ex
pensive and laborious one, wo desire to have some guar
anty of its success. We therefore invito subscriptions
and invoke tire aid of our friends; and so soon ns
ONE THOUSAND
reliable names shall be procured, the first number will
be issued and promptly mailed. Then, but not till then,
payment will be expected of all subscribers.
We shall adhere strictly to the advance CASH SYS
TEM I not only for our own, but our readers’ good. Eve- [
rjweader is interested in this system; for it is the only
one by which a journal can be successfully established,
and its interest and usefulness maini.ui.ied.
The Weekly Sun will be a large and handsome sheet,
printed on good paper, and containing .1 larger amount of
reading matter, adapted both to specific and general
wants and tastes, than any paper in Western Georgia,or
the State of Alabama. Advertisements will not be al
lowed to encroach upon our reading matter, except to a
very limited extent.
Subscription Price, $2.50 per anunu, invariably in ail
lance.
inducements arc offered to Postmasters and [
Ag ents, who will interest themselves to increase our
circulation —inducements that w ill enable men of ener
gy to reap real benefit from their efforts in our behalf

jgWe are pleased te learn from the Annual lie

of the above Road, that it is now in excellent
condition. The total earnings for the year end
ing August Ist, 1856, were $353,092.46, which
shows an increase of 37j- per cent, over the
earning of the previous year. After paying
for all current Road expenses, and permanent
improvements, interest, annuity to the city of
Macon, and the Dividend of last February, the
Report says the cash balance in the Treasurer’s
hands was,von the Ist instant, $27,883.29. A

The Hair.
-Jin to-day’s paper will be found an advertise
ment of Prof. 0. J. Wood’s renowned Hair Re
storative. The statements contained in the
letters of those who have used it, are wonder
fa 1, but no less wonderful than true. This
Restorative has not been long before the pub
lic, but it has already achieved a world wide
imputation, and thousands daily thank the dis
coverer. Read the advertisement, and go
straightway and supply yourself.—Glasgow

JL the above celebrated Mill, call the,.attention of Plan
ters to its great superiority over all others.
The friction rollers, tbe spiral spring and the lever, be- j

of motion, possessed by no other Mill of its kind, and we |
have proven to the satisfaction of all who witnessed its
performance, that it requires less horse power.
Purchasers can see the Mill in successful operation, by |

C. R. it. Office, Vandalia, June 21, 1854
professor w ood—
Dear Sir—l take pleasure in bearing voluntary tes
timony to tlie excellence of your Hair Restorative. Three
months ago my hair was very gray. It is now a dark
brown, (the original color,) smooth and glossy. The only
application I have made to it, lias been the liair Resto
rative prepared by you, and 11111011, from the result in
my own case, 1 can most cordially recommend to others.
Respectfully, yours, EDW. WOLCOTT’
Vincennes, la., June 21,1853.
[ PROF. O. J. WOOD—
As you are about to manufacture and vend your re
cently discovered Hair Restorative, i will state, for
whomsoever it may concern, that I have used it. and
known others to use it—that I have, for several years,
been in tlie habit of using ether liair Restoratives, and
that i find yours vastly superior to any other I know.
It entirely cleanses tlie head of dandruff, and with one
month’s proper use, will restore any person’s liair to tho
original youthful color and texture, giving it a healthy,
soft and glossy appearance; and all this, without discol
oring tlie hands that apply it, or tliu dress on whicli it
drops. I would, therefore, recommend its use to every
Olie desirous of having a line color and texture of liair.
Respectfully, yours, WILSON KING.
St. Louts, June 29,1853.
PROF. WOOD—
As you are about to prepare and vend your recently
discovered Hair Restorative, and us you request nty opiu
ion of it, I will’ state, that my hair was, a few months
ago, very gray, and after using two bottles of your Halt
Restorative, it resumed its original color; and since its
application, all dandfuit Ims disappeared front my head,
and i have Ih cii troubled with no disagreeable itching of
the sculp. lam satisfied that those who use it will not
regret it, as it gives the hair ilie appearance of having
been recently oiled. lam prepared, therefore, to recom
mend its use to all who are desirous of having a beautiful
bead of hair. I am. sir, yours, etc.
11. 1.. STEWART
PROF. WOOD—
Dear Sir—My liair lmd, for several years, been be
coming prematurely gray accompanied by a harshness
which tendered tlie constant application of oil necessary
in dressing it. When 1 commenced using your Hair Res
torative, about two months ago, it v.as in that condition :
and having continued its use till within the last tlnee
weeks, it lias turned to its natural color, arid assumed a
softness and lustre greatly to be preferred to those pro
duced by the application of oils or any other preparation
1 have ever used. I regard it as an indispensable article
I'or every lady’s toilet, whether to be used as a Hair Res
torative, or for tile simple purpose of dressing or beauti
fying the hair. Vou have permission to refer to me all
who entertain any doubt of its performing all that is
claimed for it. MBS. O. BYMONDS,
Cincinnati, Ohio, Feb. 10. 1854. 144 Third st.
Watertown, Mass., May 1,1854.
PROF. O. J. WOOD—
Allow me to attest the virtues and magic powers oi
youi liair Restorative. Three months since l , being ex
ceedingly gray, I purchased, and soon commenced to use,
two bottles; audit soon began to tell, in restoring the
silver locks to their native color, and tlie hair, whicli was
before dry and harsh and falling off, now became soft
and “glossy, and it ceased falling; the dandruff disap
pcared, and the scalp lost all the disagreeable itching,
so annoying before, and now, 1 not only look, but feel
young again. Respectfully, yours, etc.
CHARLES WHITNEY.
