COLUMBUS WEEKLY SUN.
T. W. LANE AND T. DE WOLE,
EDITORS.
illE DAILY SUN being now established on a basis,
btta.l enough and strong enough, to secure its per
manence, we have determined to carry out our long
cherished intention, the establishment of a
WEEKLY
JIIE WEEKLY SUN, will bo made up from the choic
es! matter ol our daily; like it, will maintain a strict
as to party and creed; and like it, will contain
all the latest and most interesting news received, up to
thl hour of going to press.
On toe first of September next, we shall have in suc
cessful operation, liberal
TELEGRAPHIC ARRANGEMENTS,
which will enable us to lay before our readers the very
latest news. Foreign and Domestic, Commercial, Politi
cal! and Miscellaneous. Wo might enlarge at great
length, upon our intentions; but preferring performance
to promises, we shall endeavor to have the “SUN ” make
its-own way exclusively upon such merit us it may be
found to possess.
jeforc embarking in this project, which w ill lie an ex
peasive aud laborious one, we desire to have some guar
anty of its success. We therefore invite subscriptions
and invoke the aid of our friends; and so soon as
OHSTE THOUSAND
reliable names shall be procured, the lirst number will
be Issued and promptly mailed. Then, but not till then,
payment will be expected of all subscribers.
fi e shall adhere strictly to the advance CASH SYS- I
■hi. not only for our own, but our readers’ good. Eve- j
■Header is interested In this system; for it is the only
on! by which a journal can be successfully established, j
Mid its interest and usefulness maintained.
The Weekly Sun will be a large and handsome sheet,
printed on good paper, and containing a larger amount of
reading matter, adapted both to specitic and general
Mbu!’ and tastes, than any paper in Western Georgia, or
the State of Alabama. Advertisements will not be al
lowed to encroach upon our reading matter, except to a
Vpry limited extent.
‘Subscription Price, $2.50 per annum, invariably in ad
vance.
inducements arc ottered to Postmasters and
Agents, who will iuterest themselves to increase our
<Bculation—inducements that will enable men of ener
gy to reap real benefit from their efforts in our behalf
JH>on this point full particulars may be obtained by ad
dressing THOMAS DEWOLF.
The Hair.
■ln to-daj’’s paper will be found an advertise
ment of Prof. 0. J. Wood’s renowned Hair lle-
Worative. The statements contained in the
letters of those who have used it, are wonder
ful, but no less wonderful than true. This
Hestorative has not been long before the pub
lic, but it has already achieved a world wide
■nutation, and thousands daily thank the dis
eoverer. Read the advertisement, and go
straightway and supply yourself.—Glasgow

■ The upshot of the Republican party proviso
to the army bill, should it become a law-, will
be to compell the President, unconstitutional
ly, to substitute the martial for the civil law
in. the States of Missouri aud lowa, as well as
Kansas. This is to be its only practical ef
jfct, as will be comprehended on reading it

U. It. It. Offick, Vanda lia, June 21, 1864.
PROFESSOR WOOD—
Dear Sir—l take pleasure in bearing voluntary tea
| timony to the excellence of your Hair Restorative. Three
months ago my liair was very gray. It is now a dark
brown, (the original color,) smooth aud glossy. The only
application l have made to it. has been the Hair Kcsto
ratin’ prepared by you, and which, from the result in
myowu case, I can most cordially recommend to others.
Respectfully, yours, EDW. WOLCOTT.
Vincennes, la., June 21. 1853.
PROF. O. J. WOOD—
As you are about to manufacture and vend your re
cently discovered llair Restorative, i will state, foi
whomsoever it may concern, that 1 have used it, and
known others to use it—that 1 have, for several years,
been in the habit of using ether llair Restoratives, aud
that l find yours vastly superior to any other 1 know
It entirely cleanses the head of dandruff, and with one
month’s proper use. will restore any person's hair to ths
original youthful color and texture, giving it a healthy,
soft aud glossy appearance; and all this, without discol
oring the hands that apply it. or the dress on w hich it
drolls. 1 would, therefore, recommend its use to every
one desirous of having a fine color ami texture of hair.
Respectfully, yours. WILSON KING.
St. Louis, June 29,1852.
I’ROF. W OOD—
As you are about to prepare and vend your recently
discovered llair Restorative, ami us you request my opiu
ion of it, 1 will state, tlmt my hair w as. a few months
ago, very gray, and after using two bottles of your Hah
Restorative, it resumed its original color; and since its
application, all dandruff has disappeared from my head,
and 1 have been troubled with no disagreeable itching of
the scalp. lam satisfied that those who use it will not
regret it, ns it gives the hair the appearance of having
been recently oiled. lam prepared, therefore, to recoin
mend its use to all who arc desirous of having a beautiful
head of hair. I am, sir. yours, etc.
11. L. STEWART.
PROF. W OOD—
Dear Sir—sl y hair had, for several ycurs, been be
coming prematurely gray, accompanied by a harshness
which t endered the constant application of oil necessary
in dressing it. Whcit I commeiu. and using your Hair Res
torative, about two months ago. i, was in that condition ;
and having continued its use 0. w ithin the last three
weeks, it bus turned to its natural color, and assumed a
softness and lustre greatly to lie preferred to those pro
duced liy the application of oils or any other pieparation
I have ever used. 1 regard it as an indispensable article
for every lady’s toilet, whether to l e used as a Hair Kes
torative, or for the simple purpose of dressing or beauti
fying the hair. You have permission to refer to me all
who entertain any doubt of its performing all tlmt is
claimed for it. MBS. C. BYSIONDB,

PROF. O. J. WOOD—
Allow me to attest the virtues aud magic powers of
youi llair Restorative. Three months since, being ex
ceedingly gray, I purchased, uml soon commenced to use,
two bottles; and it. soon began to tell, in restoring the
silver locks to tlieir native color, and the hair, which was
before dry and lmrsh and falling oft', now became soft
and “glossy, and it coast'd falling; the dandruff disap
peared, and the sculp lost all the disagreeable itching,
so annoying before, and now, 1 not only look, luit feel
young again. Respectfully, yours, etc.
