A Pull Sized “Dwarf.”
V man by the name of Musard, a dealer in
horses, died a few days ago at St. Maude—
-1 Musard w.as the heaviest mau in France, and
I | ,-obably m the world. He weighed 2!17 kilo-
I Lauunes, which is about 600 pounds English
I tve i,T lit! What a Daniel Lambert he was!—
li u tmusing incident is related of Musard.—
I When Barnum was in Paris with Tom Thumb,
|•! countryman, who had come to the city on
I purpose to get a look at the famous little Anter
i [ Cll n was met by a waggish friend, and per
-1 cuad’ed to call at Musard’s under the supposi
| tion that there Gen. Tom Thumb was to be
seen. Musard was informed of the joke, and
when the countryman came opened the door
himself. “ I—l—come to see the dwarf,”
filtered the astonished peasant. “ All right,”
replied Musard; “I am ho.” “You!” “Cer
tainly- In public lam a dwarf, but you have |
the brivilege of seeing me in a natural condi
tion.” The countryman went away oonsider-
Jinjr that he had got the full worth of his money,
f At the funeral of Musard, it took twelve stout
linen to lift his coffin. —Paris Letter.
Diving Bells on a New Principle.
An interesting application of electrical light
Ito diving bells under water has been found
■ very useful. The apparatus employed for that
purpose consists of a glass cylinder, with a
lens throwing parallel rays, and containing
the electro-galvanic battery. Whenever the
driver desires to have light, he lias but to turn
a small screw, when the electric currents, is
suing through points of charcoal, arc brought
so closely together as to become incandescent,
and to generate light for at least two hours,
of an intensity sufficient to light up perfectly
a circle of eighty feet diameter.
A Remarkable Birth.
The Journal des Annonces, of Lisle, announ
ces that a married woman residing iu a com
mune near that town, and who has twice been
brought to bed of twins, has just been safely
delivered of live children—three boys and two
girls. All the children are well formed, but
small, and are in good health. A singular
[phenomenon is stated by the journal to have
[attended the pregnancy of the woman. Dur
ing the last two months all the objects before
her eves appeared to be several times repeated,
but since her delivery her sight has returned
to its natural state.
“ More Straws.”
Locomotive “Sparks” of the Elmira Gazette
says a vote was taken in a restaurant the other
day, with the following result:
Gin Cocktail 2
Brandy Smash 5
Brandy Straight 2
Lager Beer 15
If this vote can be relied, and “Sparks”
vouches for it, it shows, decidedly, the symp
toms of the masses.

HAIR RESTORATIVE.
It Has Worked Miracles,
rIMi AT ALL THE BALD AND GRAY can be restored
_L perfectly to original growth, so far as their locks are
concerned, does not admit of doubt; besides, it will cure
every possible disease of the scalp, whether developed as
dunuruff, itching, or in the hhupo of cutaneous einp
tions—even scald-head—and in no possible case will it
fail of curing, as if by magic, nervous or periodical head
ache, and if used twice a week by the young, regularly,
it will preserve the color, and keep ttie liair from falling,
to auy imaginable age. Read aiiiPjiidge.
Logansport, la., June, 1866.
Messrs. O. J. WOOD & CO.:
Geuts—Yours of the 13tli came duly to hand. En
closed, please find thirty-eight dollars, it being the
uniouut for Hair Restorative. I have sold it all. * *
if you choose, you may semi six dozen bottles Hair Res
torative; 1 think 1 can sell it. It has worked miracles
in this place. I sold a man six $1 bottles, that was bald,
and it fetched new hair out all over his head.
Y'ours, respectfully, M. 11. GRIDLEY
C. R. R. Office, Yandaua, June 21,1854.
PROFESSOR WOOD—
Dear Sir—l take pleasure in bearing voluntary tes
timony to the excellence of your Hair Restorative. Three
mouths ago my liair was very gruy. It is now a dark
brown, (the original color,) smooth and glossy. The only
application 1 have made to it, lias been the liair Resto
rative prepared by you, and which, from the result in
my own ease, 1 can most cordially recommend to others.
Respectfully, yours, EDW. WOLCOTT.
Vincennes, la., June 21.1853.
PROF. O. J. WOOD—
As you are about to manufacture and vend your re
cently discovered liair Restorative, . will state, for
w homsoever it may concern, that 1 have used it, and
known others to use it—that 1 have, for several years,
been in the lull,it of usiug ether Hiur Restoratives, mid
that 1 find yours vastly superior to any other 1 know.
It entirely cleanses the head of dandruff, and with oue
month's proper use, will restore any person’s hair to the
original youthful color aud texture, giving it a healthy,
soil aud glossy appearance; and all tiiis, without discol
oring the hands that apply it, or the dress on which it
drops. 1 would, therefore, recommend its use to every
one desirous ot having a tine color and texture of hair.
Respectfully, yours, WILBUN KING.
St. Louis, June 29,1863.
I’ROF. WOOD—
As you are about to prepare and vend your recently
discovered liair Restorative, and as you request my opin
ion of it, 1 will state, that my hair was, a tew months
ago, very gray, and after using two bottles of your liair
Restorative, it resumed its original color; and since its
application, all dundruff lias disappeared from my head,
and i have been troubled with no disagreeable itching of
the seal],. 1 am satisfied that those who use it will not
regret it, aN it gives the liair the appearance of having
been recently oiled. lam prepared, therefore, to recoin
mend its use to all who are desirous of having a beautiful
head of liair. I am, sir, yours, etc.
H. L. STEWART.
PROF. WOOD—
Dear Sir—My liair had, for seveial years, been bo
coining prematurely gray, accompanied by a harshness
Which rendered the constant application of oil necessary
in dressing it. When 1 commence! using your Hair Res
torative, about two months ago it wmf iu tiiai coudiiiou ;
and having continued its use tin within the last three
weeks, it lias turned to its natm .1 color, and assumed a
softness and lustre greatly to In preierred to those pro
duced by the application of oils < i any other preparation
1 have ever used. I regard it as an indispensable article
for ( very lady’s toilet, whether to tie used as a liair Res
torative. or for the simple purpose of dressing or beauti
fying the huir. You have pel mi*,ion to refer to me all
wilo entertain any doubt of its performing nil that is
claimed for it. MJio. C. BYMONDB,
Cincinnati,Ohio, Feb. 10, 1864. 144 Third St.
Watertown, Mass., May 1,1854.
PROF. O. J. WOOD—
Allow mo to attest the virtues and magic powers of
your Hair Restorative. Three months since, 1 icing ex
ceedingly gray, 1 purchased, and soon commenced to use,
two bottles; and it soon began to tell, in restoring the
silver locks to their native color, and the liair. w liieli was
before dry and harsh anti falling oil', now became soli
and'glossy, and it ceased falling; the dandruff disap
peared, and the sculp lost all the disagreeable itching,
so annoying before, and now , 1 not only look, hut leol
voung again. Respectfully, yours, etc.
