THE BRITISH PERIODICALS,

THE FARMEYI'S GrtTIDH.
Great reduction in the price of the latter publication.
L. Scott & Cos., New York, continue to publiah the fol
lowing leading British Periodicals, viz:
THE LONDON QUARTERLY (Conservative).
THK EDINUBUUGU REVIEW (WM*).
THE NORTH BRITISH REVIEW (Free Church).
THE WESTMINSTER REVIEW (Liberal).
BLACKWOOD’S EDINBURGH MAGAZINE (ToFy).
I 'HE great and important events—Religious, Political,
and Military—now ugitatiug vhenatious of the Ola
Vi orld, givo to these Publications au interest and value
they never before possessed. They occupy a middle
ground between the hastily writteu news hems, crude
speculations, and flying rumors of the newspaper, and
tlie ponderous Tome of the historian, written long after
Iho living interest in the facts he records shall have
passed awuy. The progress of the War in the East occu
pies a large space in their pageH. Every movement is
closely criticised, whether of friend or of foe, and all
short comings fearlessly pointed out. ‘J'bu letters from
the Crimea and from the Baltic in Blackwood’s Magazine,
from two of its most pupular contributors, give a more
intelligible aud reliable account of tile movements of the
great belligerents that can elsewhere be found.
These Periodicals ably represent the three great politi
cal parties of Great Britain—Mhig. Tory, and Radical,—
but politics forms only one feature of tlieir character.—
As Organs of the most profound writers on Science, Lite
nature, Morality, and Religion, they stand, as they ever
have stood, unrivalled in the World of lot lets, being con
sidered indispensable to the scholar und tlie professional
man, while to the intelligent reader of every class they
bu llish a more correct and satisfactory record of the cur
rent literature of the day, throughout ilie world, thuti
can be possibly obtained from any other source.
Early- Coyles.
The receipt of Advamr, SheiU ln.m tlie British publish

during tlie present exciting state of European affairs, in
asmuch as they can now be placed in the bauds of sub
scribers about as soon as the original editions.
