Oct. 29.—Cotton is selling from 9 to 11c. Supplies are coming in freely. Kansas— Letter from Gov. Geary. The following letter from Gov. Geary was received at the State Department in Washing. ,",1 u n the 22(1 ult. The Governor deserves 0 U of the country for the promptness with which he has put things to rights in that dis tracted territory: Executive Department, } Lecompton, K. TANARUS., Oct. 10, 18oli. J Silt: Your letter of the 23d ultimo, inreply to mine of the Oth, and your telegraphic des patch of the 27th ult., in reply to my letter of the Kith, were both received on the evening of the Bth inst. Despatches forwarded since the dates of those acknowledged, have informed you that peace and quiet have been restored in the Territory. Not only have all large armed bodies of men been dispersed, but the smaller bands of marauders have been driven off. — The roads are travelled with safety, and dwell ings are secure from intrusion. For upwards of two weeks no outrages have been authenti cally reported. Many notorious and trouble some agitator:;, claiming to belong to all par ties, have left the Territory, and the beniti cent influence of their absence is being alrea dy very sensibly felt. “The troops scut to the north have not yet returned. It is my purpose to leave on the northern frontier a considerable force for its protection: and the remainder of the troops will be employed to guard such other points as may seem to require it. I shall short ly proceed in person with a small body of men to the southwestern portion of the Territory, in pursuit of a gang of thieves who are said to be pillaging that region.
