For sale by ail respectable Grocers and Druggists Read the opinions of tin* New York Press. UftOLI’HO WOLFE. -2 Beaver St.. New York. From tlio New York Mercury. Fu.u di i.knt Imitations of Sitkrioii Commom*iieß, Among tin* many db'houu.-tics of trade which Die mor al sense of the community is called upon to supine*.*;, we would particularly notice a most jkl'liiciousiuid infuiuouH practice adopted J*y unscrupulousdculcrsof imitating and counterfeiting the; exterior appearance ami precMit lunary labels of popular drugs, inedicanicuta, and other articles of personal consumption, ami thus, by seizing upon the well acquired reputation of an enterprising tr uioi, pal ming oil’ most destructive amtwoithless coinpoumls, to the sore detriim ut not only of Uio consumer, hut to the character of the man who has expended thousands of dollars in bringing the genuine article into esteem aud demand. These pefty larceny thieves are the pest of all liouurable dealers and traders, and the trade is jws much highway rol beiy as the violent appropriation of their neighbor's purse ; in fact they are beneath the burglar and highwayman indignity—for these latter felons ex hibit a bravery or recklessness of character in nowise dis tinguishing the mercantile assassin who stubs m the dark. And ought they not be rewarded w ith a punish ment commensurate with tho cowardice of their crime? Wc were led to these remarks by accidentally observing a spurious counterfeit of IJdolpho Wolfe's Scheidum Schnapps. The labels were imitated perfectly, with the slight addition of a few letters to ance of the law’ against counterfeiting; the bottles were very similar, aud every thing carefully prepare 1 to im pose upon a careless purchaser. Now is not the man who perpetrated this fraud, a felon a robber? Assuredly he is: for, as Mr. Wolfe has expended large sums to bring his genuine Imported schnappa Into popuhtr demand, that, demand may be justly considered a part of bis cap ital in trade, ami a fellow stealing a part of his reputa tion is as much of a thief as if he had stolen u barrel of hhf schnapps in bulk. And to this crime he adtls a fur ther one of defrauding the community by giving them a ruinous article for the money they intended to expend for u commodity in which they hud confidence. Aud, further, every mail who participates indirectly in the fraud, bv selling spurious articles is u* much of an ollm der as the principal who planned the imposition. Tnc remedy of Mr. Wolfe should lie in Ids holding all concur tied up to the contempt ot the community thus swindled by their operation*, and unconsciously imposed upon by their noxious composition.
