Judge Henning’s Speech.
The speech delivered by Hon. H. L.
Benning in the Hall of the House of Rep
resentatives, at Milledgeville, the 19th,
appears in full in the Federal Union, of
Saturday. It is pronounced to be an able
and admirable argument in favor of the
policy and necessity of secession. Ifs
great length precludes our republishing
it, but we will endeavor to furnish the
substance of it, as soon as we have suffi
cient leisure to give it a careful perusal.
Superior Court
The Superior Court for Muicogte
county commenced its session yesterday,
Judge Worrill presiding. But on* or
two members of the Bar from a distance
are in attendance up to this time. Little
or no business, we belive, was transact
ed, the Court merely organizing. Dur
ing the term we will report, a3 they oc
cur, all the proceedings likely to interest
the public.
The Florida.
Wo refer the traveling public to the
notice of the steamship Florida, on the
line between Apalachicola and New Or
leans. The advantages of this route to
New Orleans is surpassed by no other,
and equaled by no other in respect to
cheapness and certainty. A* the larger
boats art now commencing to run the
river regularly, we expect to hear of an
increased tide of travel by this newly es
tablished route to New Orleans and the
West.

Obituary.
We are glad to see from the following
announcement in the Columbus Enquirer,
that our illustrious predecessor and ven
erable successor of the Enquirer—is
dead ! —dead to all the pains and penal
ties of old bachelorship. We hope each
season of the singing of birds, will bring
another martin to cheer him with its hap
py twitter and make indeed “a well spring
of joy” around his box.

For the Macon Fair.
We observed yesterday a magnificent
wagon for city and plantation use, on ex
hibition at DeGraffenreid’s corner. It
wag built by Messrs. RadelifTe & Cos.,
and is intended for exhibition at the Cot
ton Planters; Flair to be held in Macon
in December.
As the Southern people are talking of
resistance to the North by secession or
otherwise, they will prove their consis
tency and sincerity not a little, by the
enoouragement of home industry and en
terprise in every shape. Therefore plan
ters and others, buy your wagons, made
in a superior manner, at your very doors.

MAPE’S NITROGENIZED
SUPERPHOSPHATE OF
LIME !
Read tho following Letter,
Newberry, g. C., October, iB6O
l’Ror. J. J. Mates —Dear Sir: I bought twenty
hags of your Nitrogeni/.ed Superphosphate of
Lime, of your Agents, Messrs. H. A N. E. Kolo
mon, Hamburg, S. 0., (who solicited a statement
of its effects,) and applied it to forty acres of my
poorest cotton land.
This land is on the public road, where its effects
were seen. My neighbors, who are acquainted
with the land, were astonished at the luxuriant
growth of the cotton where I used your Super
phosphate. It produced better cotton, and a larger
amount, than on my good laud; less work was
needed in making the cotton than on my other
land. Hot a particle of rust was to be soeu where
I applied >our Superphosphate, whilo the rust
prevailod over every other portion of my cotton
crop. Roapoctfully yours,
DAVID PAYNE.
Note. —Mr. Payne’s good land compares favora
bly with the best cotton lands on the Saluda river.
The Saluda bottoms are proverbial for producing
large quantities of cotton.
