OR. MOTT’S
CHALYBEATE RESTORATIVE
PILLS OF IRON.
AN Aperient andStomachic preparation of Iron
purified of Oxygen and Carbon by combustion
iu llydrogon. Sanctioned by the highest mouicul
authorities, both in kuropo aud the United states,
and prescribed in their practice.
The experience ol thousands daily proves that
no preparation ol Iron can be compared with it.
Impurities of the blood, depression of vital energy,
pale and otherwisosickly complexions indicateits
necessity in almost every conceivable case.
Inoxious in ull maladies in which it has been
tried, it has proved absolutely curative in each of
the following complaints, viz:
In Debility, Nervous Affections, Emaciation,
Dyspepsia, Constipation, Diarrhoea, Dysentery,
Incipient Consumption, Scrofulous Tuberculosis.
Salt Rhoum, Mismenstrualion, Whites, Chlorosis,
Liver Complaints, Chronic Headaches, Rheuma
tism, Intermittent Fever, Pimples on the Face, Ac.
In cases of General Dkuility, whether the re
sult of acute disease, or of the continued diminu
tion of nervous aud muscular energy from chronic
complaiutß,one trial of this Restorative lias proved
successful to an extent which no description nor
written attestation would render credible. Inva
lids so long bed ridden as to have become forgotten
in their own neighborhood, havo suddenly re-ap
peared in the busy world as if just returned from
protracted travel in a distant land. Some very
signal instances of this kind are attested of female
sufferers, emaciated victims of apparent maras
mus, sanguineous exhaustion, critical changes,
and that complication of nervous and dyspeptic
aversion to air and exercise, for which the physi
cian has no name.
In Nervous Affections of all kinds, aud for
reasons familiar to medical men, the operation of
this preparation of iron must necessarily be salu
tary, for, uulike the old oxides, it is vigorously
tonic, without being exciting aud overheating;
and gently, regulariy aperient, even in the most
obstinate cases of costiveness, without ever being
a gastric purgative, or inflicting a disagreeable
sensation.
It is this latter property, among others, which
makes it so remarkably effectual and permanent a
remedy for Piles , upon which it also appears to
exert a distinct and specific action, by dispersing
the local tendency which forms them.
In Dyspepsia, innumerable as are its causes, a
single box of those Chalybeate Fills has often
sufficed ior the most habitual cases, including the
attendant Costiveness.
In unchecked Diarrhoea, oven when advaucod
to Dysentery, confirmed, emaciating, aud appa
rently malignant, the effects have been equally
decisive and astonishing.
In the local pains, loss of flesh and strength,
debilitating cough, and remittent hectic, which
generally indicate Incipient Consumption, this
remedy has allayed the alarm of friends and phy
sicians, in several very gratifying and interesting
instances.
In Scrofulous Tuberculosis, this medicated iron
has had far more than the good effect of the most
cautiously balanced preparations of iedine, with
out any of thoir well known liabilities.
The attention of females cannot be too confi
dently invited to this remedy and restorative,iu the
cases peculiarly affecting them.
Iu Rheumatism, both Chronic and Inflammato
ry— fn the latter, however, more decidedly—it has
been invariably well reported, both as alleviating
pain and reducing the swellings and stiffness of
the joints and muscles.
In Intermittent Fevers, it must necessarily be
a great remedy and energetic restorative, and its
progress in the new settlements of the West will
probably be one of high renown and usefulness.
Ne remedy has ever been discovered in the
whole history of medicine, which exerts such
prompt, happy, and fully restorative effects. Good
appetite, complete digestion, rapid acquisition of
strength, with an unusual disposition for active
and cheerful exercise, immediately follow its use.
Put up in neat flat metal boxes containing fifty
pills, price 60 cents per box; for sale by druggists
and dealers. Will be sent free to any address on
receipt of the price. All letters, orders, etc.,
should be addressed to

over twenty years ago. caused by a complicated
chronic disease, attended with an eruption on the
head. A continual course of suffering through
life having reduced me to a state of dependence, I
have not been able to obtain stuff for caps, neith
er have I been able to do them up, in consoquonce
of which my head has suffered extremely from
cold. This indited me to pay Briggs k Hodges
almost the last cent I had on earth for a two dol
lar bottle of thy Hair Restorative about the first
of August last. I have faithfully followed the di
rections and the bald spot is now covered with
hair thick and black. Feeling confident that an
other large bottle would restore it entirely and
prominently, I feel anxious to persevere in its
use, and being destitute of means to purchase any
more, I would ask thee if thee wouldst not be wil
ling to send mo an order on thine agents for a
bottle, and receive to thyself the scripture decla
ration —“the reward is to those that are kind to
the widow and the fatherless.”
Thy friend, SUSANNAH KIRBY.

Prof. 0. J. Wood: Dear Sir —ln the latter part
of the year 1852, while attending the State aud
National Law School of the State of New York,
my hair, from a cause unknown to me, commoncod
falliug off very rapidly, so that In tho short space
of six months, the whole upper part of my scalp
was almost entirely bereft of its coveting, and
much of the remaining portion upon the side and
back part of my head shortly after became gray,
so that you will not be surprised when I tell you
that upon my return to the State of Indiana, my
more casual acquaintances were not so much at a
less to discover the cause of the change in my ap
pearance, as my more intimate acquaintances
were to recognise me at all.
I at once made application to the most skillful
physicians in ibe country, but, receiving no as
surance from them that my hair could again be
restored, I wan forced to become reconciled to my
fate, until, fortunately, in the latter part of the
year 1857, your Restorative was recommended to
me by a druggist, as being the most reliable Hair
Restorative in use. I tried one bottle, and found
io my groat satisfaction that it was producing the
desired effect. Since that time, I have used seven
dollars’ worth of your Restorative, and as a result,
have a rich coat of very soft black hair, which no
money can buy.
Asa mark of my gratitude for your labor and
skill In the production of so wonderful an article,
I have recommended its use to many of my friends
and acquaintances, who, I am happy to inform
you, are using ft with like effect. Very respect
fully, yours, A. M. LATTA,
Attorney and Counsellor at Law.

Wo have put up and sold this article for over
ten years, aud CAN SAY, IN CONFIDENCE AND
TRUTH of it, what we have never been able to
say of any other medicine—NEVEß HAS IT
FAILED, IN A SINGLE INSTANCE, TO EFFECT
A CURE, when timely used. Never did we know
an instance of dissatisfaction by any one who
a sod it. On the contrary, all are delighted with
its operations, and speak in terms of commenda
tion of its magical effects and medical virtues I
We speak in this matter “WHAT WE DO KNOW,”
after ten years’ experience, AND PLEDGE OUR
REPUTATION FOR THE FULFILLMENT OF
WHAT WE HERE DECLARE. In almost every
instance where the infant is suffering from pain
and exhaustion, relief will be found in fifteen
or twenty minutes after the syrup is udminis*
tered.
This valuable preparation is the prescription of
one of the most EXPERIENCED and SKILLFUL
NURSES in Now England, and has been used
with NEVER FAILING SUCCESS in
THOUSANDS OF CABES.
It not only relieves the child from pain, but In
vigorates the stomach and bowels, corrects acidi
ty, and gives tone and energy to the whole sys
tem. It will almost instantly relieve
GRIPING IN THE BOWELS, AND WIND COLIO
and overcome convulsions, which, if not speedily
remedied, end in death. We believe in the BJ£BT
and SUREST REMEDY IN THE WORLD, in all
cases of DYSENTERY and DIARRIKEA IN CHIL
DREN, whether it arises from teething, or from
any other cause. We would say to every mother
who has a child suffering from any of tho forego
ing complaints—DO NOT LET YOUR PREJUDI
CES, NOR THE PREJUDICES OF OTHERS,stand
between you and your suffering child, and the
relief that will be SURE—yes, ABSOLUTELY
BURE—to follow the use of this medlcino, if
timely nsed. Full directions for using will ac
company each bottle None genuine unless the
fac-similo of CURTIS k PERKINS, New York, is
on the wrapper.

Hen. James D. Webb, of Greensboro,

has written a letter declaring for separ

necessary. He closes thns: Having

Growth of Mew Orleans.
In 1810, says the Pioayune, the total
population of the city was 17,242. The
census for 1820 gives a population of
27,170. In 1880 the returns shew 46,310
inhabitants. In 1840 we hada popula
tion of 102,193. The census for 1850
gives us 110,375 souls, and that for 1800
swells the number up to 170,766.
With the single exooption of the period
from 1840 to 1850, the growth of New
Orleans basinot, sinoo 1810, fallen below
46 per cent, in ten years, and its in
crease during the last decade is nearly in
the ratio of the growth of New York, and
above that of Philadelphia and Boston,
for the same period.
