In the Southern Trade!
WILLIAM SMITH, Watch
maker, No. 81 Broad street,
begs to inform tbe respected in- ft
habitants of Columbus and its SYgjfc
vicinity that he has relinquished
for the future the sale of
Watches, and intends to givo his whole attention
to REPAIRS ONLY. Watches are such delicate
machines that if in fixing thorn the mind is at all
abstracted from the object in view it is very un
certain about tinm boing p’Operly done, and if
you employ a workman to do them for you it is
still as uncertain —for where you get one done
properly and to your (satisfaction you are likely
to hud three not lit to put into a customer’s
pocket; and Mr. 8. does not hesitate to ray there
is no one so likely to do them justice us the
master that knows his trade, and whose whole
and sole interest is absorbed in them.
Mr. S.has a good stock of well-selected Watches
by him, and which he will dispose of at a groat
reduction, providing too much time is not taken
up the aalo, otherwise they will be sent to publio
auction. The unprecedented success of his pre
decessor, L. Gatawskey, is the causo of his adopt
ing the same principle.

CHEROKEE REMEDY!
Cures from
AN UNFAILING CURE FOR
Gonorrhoea and all Diseases of the
Urinary Organs.
rjIHIS REMEDY cures when all other prepara-
X lions fail. It is entirely unlike every other
compound; containing no mineral poison or nau
seous drug, as it is prepared solely from Rcots,
Barks and Leaves, and has boon handed down,
from ouo generation to another, by the Cherokee
Indians. It is offered to the public on its own in
trinsic merits. It performs its duty quickly and
thoroughly. The unfortunate of either Bex will
be repaid by using this Remedy, instead of placing
themselves at the mercy of some Quack or Pro
fessor. This Remedy strikes at the very root of
the disease; its tendency is not simply to suspend
the poison, but to remove the cauße on which it
depends. Full directions in pamphlet form ac
company each bottle. The speedy and permanent
relief afforded by this Remedy, in all cases of
Gonorrhoea, Gleet, Gravel, Stricture,
Fluor Albuu (Whites in Females), and all dis
eases of the Urinary Organs, has astonished the
most scientific men of tho age. This Remedy not
only eradicates all poißon from the systom, but
invigorates the most delicate constitution.
It does not affect the breath or interfere with
any class of business, or require any deviation
from the usual diet.
It requires no assistance from other medicine.
And what enhances its value is the entire ab
sence of all nauseous taste, boing a pleasant and
delicious syrup.

It will require two or three terms of

Tho Nashville Union of the 24th says:
The amount of Hour, grain aud provisions

that tho planters in tho Southern Confed

this contingency in future, by every
whore planting larger crops of corn than

there is at present stored in the great

From false and open foes!
Guided by Thine all-ruling hand
In vain will hate oppose.
So mote tlie ship of state move on
I pon tho unfuthomed sea;
Gallantly o'er its surges borne
The bulwark of the free!
Opinion of tlie Attorney CSeneral—
Collection of iteveune.
It is understood by intelligence from
Washington, that tlie Attorney General
has given a writteu opinion to the Presi
dent that under tho 89th seotion of the
law us 1799 it will be impossible to col
lect any rovenue in any of the seceded
States. That section declares that the
trial of any fact regarding a violation of
the revenue laws shall be within the judi
cial district in which the seizure or for
feiture oocurs. As there are no United
States Courts, Judges or Marshals in any
of tho ports of the seceded States, there
are no moans, under existing laws, of en
forcing any pcnnltios for violation of tho
revenue, even if it were practicable to
appoint a Collector to reside on ship
board within four miles of tho port. This
condition of the law has unwillingly forc
ed the President to determino upon call
ing an extra session of Congress immedi
ately.
Tennessee Wheat Crop.
The Jackson Whig Bays the prospect
for a largo wheat crop in West Tennessee
was never better.
The Springfield Republican says:—
Wheat in this section looks remarkably
well, better than we ever saw it at this
season of the year. It was feared that
Borne crops were too forward, but we Bup
poso the cold weather iu the early part of
the week bad a tendency to check their
growth somewhat. If no accident befall
tho crop au unusual quantity will be
raised,.

Southern Rights Reeling In North
Carolina—Great Entliuslamn—lm
mediate Secession Desired, etc.
Goldsboro, N. C., March 22. —Avery
large aud enthusiastic meeting of South
ern Rights citizens of North Carolina was
held at the Court House hero to-day.—
The Southern Confederacy flag was hois

The meeting organized by the election
of lion. Weldon M. Edwards, of Warrcu,
as Chairman, assisted by six Vice Presi

made by Hon. M. J. Moses, of South
Carolina, Edmond Ruffin, of Virginia,
and Gen. Young, of Moeklenburg. There
was a gcnoral outpouring of the citizens,
and the meeting is wild with enthusiasm.
All the districts in the State are Repre

By the Thousand Tons.
One hundred and fifty men have been
for along time past, and are yet, busily
engaged at the Watervliet Arsenal, as
wo learn from the Troy Times, making
gun carriages, preparing caps, cartrid
ges, &c. Thousands of tons of war ma
terial have been sent off from this ela
tion to Forts PickenH, Jefferson, Tortu
gas, and other fortifications. Shell, oan
ister and grape shot are being sent off to
a fabulous extent, and heavy gun car
riages to mount the forts have also been
quite plentifully sent away.
mercantile Capital coming to Savan
nah.
The advantages offered by Bavannah
to those merchants of New York, who
have heretofore enjoyed a monopoly of
the Southern trade, is apparent, and will
be taken advantage of. We already
hear of some six or seven rich and cx
tensivo dealers, both in dry goods and
groceries, who will open business here
on a scale that must attract buyers. —
This is all now needed to make our city
increase in population aud wealth, and
an impetus once given by capital well
managed, our prosperity will astonish
even ourselves. — Sav. Republican. 20M.
