all postal facilities through the country where a
weekly paper circulates, It la useless for us at pres
ent to Issue the Weekly Sbn. As soon as mails are
re established, It will be resumed, and all unexpired
subscriptions filled.

owing to us not being able to locate their residence.

Wagons passed over late Friday after
noon and yesterday a large lot of cotton
was brought over. Mr. Hites has been
appointed by Mr. John I>. Gray,towhom
the bridge belongs until Council pays for
it, bridge beeper. Foot passengers are
not charged. Ferriage is the same, we
understand, as that of the ferries The
sides, roof and railing will soon be com
pleted. The difficulty in procuring lum.
her has been a drawback all along. At
last we have a bridge across the Chatta
hoochee, The lower ferry is, of course,
abandoned.

Tribune says: Most of the militia now
being organized in that State, expre-e

missioner of Freedman's Bureau, for the
Star as of Tennessee, Alabama and Geor
gia, has recently been addressing the
people of Tennessee, on the policy of the
Government, relative to freedtnen’s af
fairs. Ho recently addressed the inhab
itants of Spring Hill, Term , on the same
subject, after wii'ch be was presented with
a series of resolutions, endorsed by a
large number of prominent citizens, in
wbieh they cordially endorse the action
of the Government. They express their
intention of faithfully carrying out the
wishes of the Government in respect to
the freedmec.
A special to the Times, dated Washing
ton, Sept. 19, says the Mr. Davis treasure,
brought bore in charge es (he treasury
agent, has been counted in the ireasury
office, and found to consist of $79,000 in
gold coin, $9,000 in silver coin, mostly
Mexican dollars, old coinage, and thirty
bars of silver—lotal value, slightly over
SIOO,OBO. *
An unofficial letter reoeivad from an of
ficer of the Freedmen’s Bureau at Meri
dian, Mississippi, states that of 22,770
destitute people assisted by the Govern
ment only 770 are negroes.

Two young Virginians, who were re
cently discharged from the Union army,
returned to their homes in Green county,
when they were informed they would cer
tainly be assassinated if they remained,
by ex-Ccnffdbtate soldiers.

connection is made with a fine daily line of steamers
to 8t Louis. They will receive the Cotton and pay
all accrued charges to that point, and transport it
to 8t Louis, giving through bill of lading to New
York. At St Louis the Cotton is transferred by
the boats to Broad Guage, Mississippi and Ohio Riv
er railroad, free of ilrayage, and by them is cae
lied to New Yotk without change oi cars. If ship
pers prefer the route by way of Louisville, the
agents of tho different Through Freight Linos
to New York, will receive it at Nashville and for
ward it all the way by Rail, paying accrued char
ges without extra expense. The Nashville and
Louisville, slid the NashvilU aod Chattanooga
Hoads being connected. Cotton shipped by way of
