STATH OF GEORGIA.
The following extract* from the By-Laws
adopted by the Board at their first meeting,
are made public, for the information of can
didate* who may in future apply ibr Lieu use,
to Practice Medicine, viz.
Ist. Applicants for examination shall be
required 10 write uud present a thesis on som»
Medical subject, and hand the same to the
Dean on or before each annual meeting of the
board.
2d. The board will require of each candi
date a comji. tent knowledge of Chemistry,
Anatomy, Materia, Medico, Physiology, Sur
gery, Midwifery, and the Theory and Practise
of Medicine, and will not grant a license to
any candidate who is materially deficient hi
any of those branch**.
3d. In future, applicants haying Diplomas,
shall be expected, to send them to this Board
for examination, and that 111 no case shall a
temporary or permanent license he granted up
on the testimony of a member of this board
or uny other individual, without the Diplo
ui*
. “4th. A re-examination will be granted by
Hhe board at the same session to rejected ap
points on the Sole condition, that the second
examination, he held publicly, and the ques
tions and answers recorded on the minutes.”
The order of examination will be so con
duct's), as to commence with the first name
enroled, and proceed nutnciically, until the
list is gone through, and if any applicant is
absent, when his presence is required before
the board, the licxi named shall be presented
in bis place, and the name of tiie absentee pla
ced at the bottom cf the list.

with their residence, and title of Thesis will
be duly attended to.

by us to John Evans for the lollovving several
amounts, viz. one for four hundred and fifty
dollars, due the first day of May next ; one
ibr the same amsunt, due Ist Jan. 1628, and
one oilier note for the same amount, due
the Ist Jau. 1329, which said several notes,
amounting in all to thirteen hundred and
fifty dollars, were given by us to the said
John Evans on the 9tii of October liu>t, for a
certain tract or lot of land, known by num
ber one hundred uud fifty three, in the nf

Kalb, county, which lot of land we find by
the recoids of Dekalb county, to be inort

bird, as he is the most beautiful of

and the adopted emblem of our coun
try, is entitled to particular notice.
H has been long known to natural
ists, being common to both conti
nents, and occasionally met with from
a very high northern latitude, to the
