ACADEMY OF RICHMOND COUNTY.
FBNHE Trustees of this institution are happy to
JL have it in their power to state, that both the
principal Academy in Augusta, and the branch at
Summerville, have resumed their exercises, under
the management of Teachers who have the full
confidence of the Trustees, and who, they are sa
tisfied, are fully entitled to that of the public.
Mr. Ernes putsch, the Rector of the Academy,
already favorably known to the community, has
charge of the Classical department and all the
branches of education requisite for admission to
our best Colleges. His attainments as a scholar
and success in imparting useful knowledge, emi
nently quadfy him fur the discharge of the im
portant duties of his station.
Mr. Ring, the principal English Teacher, re
cently engaged by the Board, comes with the high
est lecommenda ions as to character, talents, lite
rary attainments and skill in teaching, and the
Trustees feel assured that he will sustain the re
; putation which led to his selection.
The branch of the Academy at Summerville is
under the immediate management of Mr. Frank
lin George, a gentleman of experience in teach
ing, and highly recommended. The advantage of
the location of this bianch of the Academy in one
of the most healthful neighborhoods in the State,
and sufficiently remote from the unfavorable in
fluence of a crowded town, are too well known to
need comment.
Gn the whole, the Board confidently recommend
to the public the principal Academy and the Branch
at Summervil'e, as being on a better Rioting than !
they have heretofore been, and piornising great I
usefulness to those who may avail themselves of j
I the advantages which they offer.

PEDIGREE.
J. R. H. Acklin, Esq. of Huntsville, Alabama,
certifies as follows :— * Pom I uustall was foaled
mine on the 29th May, 1831. His darn was High
land Maty and her dam a full-blooded Archie mare;
trie sire of Highland Mary was old PacoleK Tom
Tunstall was sired by o d Pacific, and he by old
Sir Archie. This is as far as lam able to go, tho’
I arn satisfied Tom lunstail has descended Lomas
good a stuck as any horse in the L nited States.—
He was a race horse of the first order, but I lear
will never be able to make a first rate race again,
owing to his leg; it was injured when a three year
o'd, in training, as I believe*. By addressing Har
dy Cryer. Gallatin. Tennessee, you can get a full
pedigree of the dam of I’om funstall.** The same
Mr. Hardy Cryer certifies thus: —* ; Highland Mary
com bined as many or more rich crosses of thorough
breds than any maie ever laised in Tennessee.—
She was got by the noted hor-e Patolet, the son of
impoi ted Citizen ; her dam Hosey Carey by Sir
Archie ; grand-dam sa ly Jones by the imported
horse Traveller, caded Big Ben or Charlemaine,
(son of O’Kelle ’s Eclipse, and one of the purest
impoitations of the last century;) great grand-dam
by Hie impoited horse Wrangler;great-great-grand
dam (>’Po<sum by imported Shark;
great-grand-dam by the celebrated American quar
ter race horse, Goode’s old Twigg; great-great
greal-great-grand-dam by imported Fearnaught;
great-gicat-groat-great-great-grand dam by Lee’s
old Mark Anthony outof a mare by imported Alou

to trace beyond sir Archie. It is presumed none

HERMITAGE EXTRACT.—'This lately in
vented comhinaiion of delightful odors, has j
atquired a just popularity, not only by reason of
tire strength and delicacy, but of the extraoidina
ry duration of i.s perfume. Whilst the strength of
many other extracts and essences is almost as°eva
nescent as the bloom of the flowers from which
they are derived, t; e Hermitage retains its fra
i grance for an in elini e length of time, and is
scarce to be removed from the garment on which it |
is poured, by washing; hence it is probably the 1
cheapest and most delightful perfume of our labora- j
