a new and precious doctrine to the science bf medi
eme —a doctrine which, th jugh vchemenjljy opposed
by many of the faculty, (of which he is,;? valuable
member,) he proves to be as well founded in truth
as any doctrine of Holy. Writ —adoctrinje, upon the
verity of which are suspended the lives! of millions
of our race, and which he boldly challenges his op
posers to refute, viz: Consumption is a! disease al
ways occasioned by a disordered state b f Vis Vital
(or Life Principle) of the human body) fff often
secretly lurking in the system for ylctus before
there is the least complaint of the Lune-s c £jD—and
which may be as certainly, though not isplquickly,
cured, as a common coid or a simple heasdamie. An
sin valuably precious doctrine tins, as i'j parts an
important lesson to the apparently healthy of both
sexes, teaching them that this insidious roe may' I
be an unobserved inmate of their 4 clayey houses” )

art of preserving health is to pluck out ii\c disease 1

A certificate from three members of Hie Medical
Profession in Germany, in Europe.
We, the undersigned, practitioners of medicine j
in Germany, are well aware that, by our course, i
we may forfeit the friendship of soirie of the facul
ty, but'not of its benevolent memoeils, who are un- |
influenced by selfish motives. Though we shall
refrain from an expression of our opinion, cither j
of the soundness or unsoundness of) Ur. Goelick’s
new doctrine, we are happy to say Gnat we deem
his Sanative too valuable not to be generally j
known —for what our eyes behold; and our ears
hear, we must believe. I
We nereby sta e, tb it when Dr. Louis Offen ;
Goolick first came before the German public, as
the pretended discoverer of a new doctrine and a ,
new medicine, we hold him in Lie; highest con- j
tempt, believing and openly pronouncing him to be ,
a base impostor-ai d the prince of q-uabks. But, on •
hearing so much said about the Samktive, against it
and for it, we were induced, from motives of curi
o?jtf nerelv, to make trial of it?j reputed virtues |
uponra number of our most hopeless patients; and ;
we now deem it our bounden duty (even at the (
expense self-interest) publicly to acknowledge
its efficacy' in curing not only' consumption, but
other fearful maladies, which weTiave heretofore
believed to be incurable. Our pntcrapt tor the
discoverer of this medicine was a; once swallowed
up in our utter astonishment at these unexpected
results; and, as amends for our j'buse of him, we
do frankly confess to the world, '•that we believe
him a philanthropist, who does houbr to the profes
sion, and to our countiy, which gave him birth.
The recent adoption of this medicine into some
o our European hospitals, is a sUllicient guaranty
that it performs all promises. It; needed not our
estimony r , for wherever it is used it is its own best
