54150 bales. . .
Prices for the better grades of Louisiana and
Mississippi cottons, owing to their great scarcity,
have not indeed been at all affected by the news
received per Great Western ; in every instance
where holders have manifested a disposition to yield
a little, it lias been for inferior or middling lots, of
which the stock now on sale is in a great measure
composed. We continue our previous quotations,
remarking that in the present inactive state of the
market, they must be considered as scarcely more
than nominal. The sales during the week amount
I to 6000 bales, and for the last three days to but
600 bales.

Sugar — Louisiana. —We can learn of but few
Itiansactions on the Levee since our report of
Wednesday last. There is very little demand for
Pthe u: per country, and we are not aware of any
I sales of importance for shipment to the north du-
K in tr the last three days. Some further parcels
Lave been taken by speculators and grocers, who
Low hold most of the stock in the city, and are
Iveiy firm at cents, the scarcity of prime su-
Igars enabling them to obtain slightly improved
Ira son the ordinary to fair qualities. Most of the
Isales have been made at 44 0 4| cents, though oc
casionally small parcels of very choice stiU com
mand as high as
trade. There have been some further sales on
plantation for shipment to northern maikets—we
[notice one of SUO hhds on Bayou Lafourche at
cents, and another of 245 hhds below the city at 4
cents. There is very litt.e now remaining in
planters’ hands.
Molasses —But little has been done in this article
during the last three days, there being only a few
lots on the Levee for sale. These are generally
held at 19 cents & gallon, but we have heard of no
sales above IS, and still retain those ligures as our
quotations.
Flour —ln oar last Wednesday’s report we no
ticed a slight decline in this article, the arrival of
several thousand barrels having caused the market
to fall back to $3 624 for superhne, at which rate
it was dull when we closed our enquiries. Subse
quently there were several limited sales at that
ice, but within ihe last day or two a few buyers
tor the \V*est Indies appeared in market, which
caused more firmness on the part of holders, and
enabled them in some instances to obtain a slight
Jvance. The stock on sale is now unusually
ight for the season, and there is but little coming
n, the receipts of the last three days having been
>nly about 1300 barrels. These circumstances
lave imparted a good degree ot confidence, par
ticularly to the holders of fresh parcels, and some
tvere refusing to sell yesterday at $3 75, which
Bguies we give as our quotation foFsuperhne.
\mnnar thiSSales we notice particularly the follow
ing, viz: 800 bbls at §3 624; 1500 at $3 70; 800
ifs 3 75; and 100 at $3 75, Most of these were
for shipment.
Bacon —The receipts have been very light for
so’iic lime past, and although the demand at the
same time has been extremely limited, yet the
stock, particularly of first quality Cincinnati Bacon,
has gradually diminished until it has become quite
moderate. Holders, consequently, now obtain a
blight advance on the prices which have been so
long current, and we now quote canvassed Hams
st 10 0 11 cents; uncanvassed do 8£ 0 9; bides 7^
3; Shoulders 5 0 cents.

“ TOM TUNSTALL
T THIS thorough bred - Horse will

part of Augusta, formerly occupied
Bertrand, Jt. Terms —$30 the
—season, payable at the last visit; for
three or more mares, owned by the same person,
$25 each: $ 1 for the groom.
PEDIGREE.
J. R. H. Acklin, Esq. of Huntsville, Alabama,
certifies as follows :—“ Tom Tun stall was foaled
mine on the 29th May, 1881. His dam was High
land Mary .and her dam a full-blooded Archie mare;
the sire of Highland Mary was old Pacolet. Tom
Tunstall was sired by old Pacific, and he by old
Sir Archie. This is as fat as lam able to go, tho’
I am satisfied Tom Tunstall has descended from as
good a stock as any horse in the United States.—
He was a race horse of the first order, but I fear
will never be able to make a first sate race again,
owing to his leg; it was injured when a three year
old, in training, as I believe. By addressing Har
dy Cryer, Gallatin, Tennessee, you can get a full
pedigree of the dam of Tom Tunstall.” The same
Mr. Hardy Cryer certifies thus: —“ Highland Mary
combined as many or more rich crosses of thorough
breds than any mare ever raised in Tennessee.—
She was got by the noted horse Pacolet, the son of
imported Citizen ; her dam. Rosey Carey by Sir
Archie; grand-dam Sally Jones by the imported
horse Traveller, called Big Ben or Charleraaine,
(son of O’Kelley’s Eclipse, and one of the purest
importations of the last century;) great grand-dam
by the imported horse Wrangler; great-great-grand
darn O’Possum by imported Shark; great-great
great-grand-dam by the celebrated American quar
ter race horse, Goode’s old Twigg; great-great
great-great-grand-dam by imported F earn aught;
great-great-great-great-great-grand-dara. by Lee’s
old Mark Anthony out of a mare by imported Mon
key.” On the sire’s side it is deemed unnecessary
to trace beyond Sir Archie. It is presumed none
will require a purer or better attested pedegreel—
