A certificate from three members of the Medical
Profession in Germany, in Europe.
We, the undersigned, practitioners of medicine
in Germany, are well awaje that, by our course,
we may forfeit the friendship of some of the facul
ty, but not of its benevolenj.members, who are un
influenced by selfish motives. Though we shall
refrain from an expressioh lof our opinion, either
of the soundness or unsounjlness of Dr. Goelick’s
new doctrine we are happy to say that we deem
his Sanative too valuable not to be generally
known —for what our eyes behold and our ears
hear, we must believe. ,
Wc hereby sta e, that |. r hen Dr. Louis Often
Goelick first came before tie German public, as
the pretended discoverer of I new doctrine and a
new medicine, we held hiit in the highest con
tempt, believing and openly Ironouncing him to be
a base impostor i d the printfe of quacks. But, on
hearing so much said about tl|e Sanative, against it
and for°it, we were induced, Lorn motives of curi
osic merely, to make trial If its reputed virtues
upon a number of our most hlipeless patients; and
we now deem it our bo u odel\ duty (even at the
expense of self-interest; puilicly to acknowledge
its eiiicacy in curing not orly consumption, but
other fearful maladies, whicll we have heretofore
believed to be incurable. Ujfr contempt for the
discoverer of this medicine wis at once swallowed
up in our utter astonishmentlat these unexpected
results; and, as amends for olr abused him, we
do frankly confess to the wold, that we believe
him a philanthropist, who doelhouor to the profes
slcn, and to our country, whiettgave him birth.
The recent adoption of thi linedicine into some
o our European hospitals, is ;l sufficient guaranty
that it performs all promises! It needed not our
csrimoay, for wherever it is u|id it is its own best

COSBY’S DYSPEPTIC
A Late and Valuable Discovery.
TI3ERHAPB there is nothing .mo"' 1 c°)cv!aled to
disgust the public eye than the innumerable
advertisements of nostrums that are constantly ap
pearing in the public prints. All are ready io ex
claim, our souls are sick, our ears are pained with
every day’s reports of ills and specifics This state
ol the public mind would seem to forbid any person
of delicate mind from sending forth any new dis
coveries in medicine, to the trial of th/ public.—
Still, moiives of delicacy should not prevent us from
making known real discoveries, which we are con
fident will benefit our fellow men. This latter
consideration has prompted the author of these bit
lers to make them known. He knows they are high
ly efficacious, for he himself, his w ife, and many
friends, have given them a thorough trial. He was
himself a confirmed dyspeptic,so much, shat even
hi.s recollection was gone. By using these hitters
he has been restored io health. Mrs. Cosby was
troubled for many years, but was restored to health
by ihe use of these bitters. This has been the case
with many of his fri< nds. Mr. Cosby in sending
forth this adverl isement, addresses those who know
him. lie has been for many years a resident ol
Augusta at which place he can at any time b»
consulted about the bitters. They are good in all ;

of which he refers them to Freeman W. Lacy, she

KadicalCun: of Hernia or .Rupture, by Dr.
Chase’s Improved Surgeons’ Trusses.
rB’HIE subscriber has opened an office, at the Drug
X store of Messrs. J. J. Robertson & Co., for the
treatment of Hernia or Rupture, by means of these
uslly celebrated instruments. He has now used
them for nearly a year, and, did not delicacy forbid,
he could name several persons who have been radi
cally cured, of this truly distressing and dangerous
affection, by the use of these Trusses, besides many
others who are in a fairway of being entirely re
lieved. The following is the language of the com
mittee ol the Philadelphia Medical Society on the
Radical Cure of Hernia.
“ The instruments of Dr. Chase have effected
the permanent and accurate retention of the in
testines in every case of Hernia observed by the
committee, without material inconvenience to the
patient, and often under trials more severe than
are usually ventured upon by those who wearolher
trusses; trials that would be imprudent with any
other apparatus known to the committee.”
“ The committee are induced by the foregoing
conclusions to recommend, in strong terms, the in
struments of Dr. Chase to the confidence of
the profession, as the best known means of me
chanical retention in hernia, and as furnishing the
highest chances of radical cure.”
The fofiowing is from the Southern Medical and
Southern Journal, published in our own city.
“ All must admit of the radical cure of hernia,
and that Dr. Chase’s Trusses are decidedly the best
yet invented to effect the object.”
Persons from a distance can have the instruments
applied, upon application at tke office, and all ne
cessary information given to enable them to adjus
it themselves. The poor, who are laboring under
tars afflicting complaint, will be treated gratuitous
ly upon presenting a certificate.from someresponsi*
ble person, of their pecuniary disability.
The instruments are of alt sizes, and applicable
to every variety ol reducible rupture.

DR. MILES’ COMPOUND EXTRACT OF

so: - the reason that the component parts lire made

say nothing of the difficulty of raising the Tomato
so far North.
Dr. Miles, of Cincinnati, is the proprietor of the
Tomato Pills (proper) for the great benefits of
which, he holds himself bound, and in honor pledg

profess to be, and will do for othcis what they
have dune for such as mav have used them ; as
.his is a vegetable of great use, and value, it will
.loLutiess be valuable information to families to
know that the Yellow' are just doubly as valuable
as the Red Tomato, and produces twice as much
of the hapatine, or active principle, and when used
as a daily vegetable will be found to keep the
system in much better condition titan the other
kind ; many will recollect with wfiat trembling
anxiety calomel has been given to children, and
how they then wished for a substitute. It has
long been known that the Tomato contained ca
thartic principles, but not until of late was it
ascertaine j mat .aey coniaxiieu alterative and diu

the preparation most cheerfully, for the reason that
they know wl«t it is Were it a patent mystery,
they would be bound to reject the medicine, as they
justly do the one thousand and one cure-alls of the

ANTi-BALSAMIC GONORRHfEAL SOLUTION,
Warranted to cure in Five Days.
fff'HlS incomparable and invaluable remedy so
-1 long known, and used with such unparralleled
success in the Canadas for the last 30 yeais, ap
pears to need no panegyric. Its operation upon the
human system is such that it invariably acts like
a charm, for the relief and radical cure of a certain
common and disagreeable ‘‘ills the flesh is heir to.”
This prize obtains its own name from the certain
success hich has attended it through all of its
trying c cumstances, namely, “live days,”—the
same su jess w r hich followed it in a Northern lati
tude still obtains in a more Southern. The formula
or recipe was obtained at great expense, intrigue
and hazard by M. Cheveres, from the celebrated
Indian Chief Wabenothe, or Great Moon, whilst
he, with others was pursuing the lucrative Fur bu
siness in the North-Avest with the Indians. —
Wabcnoshe prized highly and use it with invariable
success throughout his two tribes. Its known and
valued virtues have already enriched to an abnost
incredible extent the children of this war! ike prince,
not only by actual sale of the article itself to in
dividuals, but by parting with copies of his receipt
at enormous prices to the Chief of every tribe of
Indians in America, with a solemn promise to the
Great Spirit, never to divulge the “art of its com
position until he sleeps with his fathers,” although
free to use it in their respective tribes, which
places it in tiie hands of every Indian who rely
with, I may say, religious conlideuce on its cura
ble powers
Below is a copy of the translation as near as it can
be anglisized of the deed given by Wabenoshe,to
M. Cheveret, when he purchased the original recipe,
and had twice assisted the Chief himself through
the tedious manipulatory process of manufacture.
Few white men would credit the length of time
which is consumed in preparing the article for im
mediate use.
