THE exercises of this institution will be resum
ed on the Ist day of January next. The ac
ademic year will comprise two sessions of five
months each. The first, begining as aoove stated,
will close on the last day of May ; the second,
will begin on the first day of June, and close on
the last of October. A few days recess will be
given in the early part of Summer.
The course of studies will embrace the literary
and scientific subjects usually taught in simi'ar
institutions, including the Ancient Languages, if
i desired. The services of an accomplished profes
sor of Music will be engaged for the next year.
Other ornamental branches will be provided for,
so soon as the state of the School will authorize it.
Terms. —Young ladies fourteen years of age,
without regard to advancement, will be charged
$25 00 p«*r session.
, Y ounger pupils will be charged in the primary
department sls 00 per session ; in the Academic,
lor the subjects of Geography and Arithmetic, to
gether with exercises in Orthography, Reading,
and Penmanship, S2O 00 per session. For English
Grammar, History, Belleslettres,Mathematics, and
other more advanced sciences, $25 00 per session.
In the ornamental department charges will not
exceed the usual rates.
Books and Stationary will be furnished if desired
at Milledgeville prices, A small contrioution for
wood will be required of each pupil. Payments
, will be expected in advance ; and no pupil will be
admitted for a less time than one session
Excellent board may be had in the village at ;
prices varying from $lO to sl4 per month. The
Principal is prepared to accommodate a few.
In conclusion, the Principal would respectfully i
commend his school to the favorable consideration
of the public. He confidenly believes that, as to
’ location, it may safely compare with any in the
country. Its exceedingly healthy climate, central
position, and intelligent refined society, give to it
peculiar advantages. As to bis qualifications for
the responsible task which he has undertaken, he
takes Hit liberty of referring to the following gen
tlemen. He does so without consulting them, be
lieving_that it will meet their approbation, and
relying cheerfully upon their candor, viz:

very probably, he will make his way to Charles
ton, 9. C. I have some reason to believe he has a
forged pas«.

feet ten inches high, and ready spoken, who calls
himself MARCH,and says he belongs to Robert
Homes of county, Ga. He had, when ap-
paper purporting to be a pass, and
almost illegible, dated 22d July, 1840, granting him
leave to pass to Wynsborough, Fairfield District,
South Carolina, until the 25th May next. The
owner of said slave is hereby required to come for
ward and prove his property, or the said slavo
shall be dealt with according to the law of the
State of South Carolina.

Annual Announcement.
THE exercises of this Institution will be re
sumed on the Sixteenth of January, 1841.
Applicants for admission to the Freshman class
will be examined critically as to their knowledge
of tne Latin, Greek, and English Grammars (pros
ody included), also upon the Anabasis of Xeno
phon, as contained in the first volume of the Col
lectanea Graeca Majora—or any equivalent selec
tion in the same volume; also upon Pl.ny’s Let
ters—or Sallust—or Livy. Above all, they will
be expected to evince great readiness in Arith
metic.
For admission to the Sophomore class, in addi
tion to the above, the applicant should have read
and completed the first volume of the Majora, and
the first book of the Udyssy, or their equivalents.
The odes of Horace, with attention to prosody ;
with Tacitus’ Life of Agricola, and his Germany.
In Mathematics he will be examined on all Day’s
Algebra, and on the first three books of Playfair’s
Geometry.
Punctual attendance on the first day of term is
desirable, as well for the sake of the Student as
for the good of the institution at large.
Good Board may be obtained in private families
at from ten to twelve dollars per month.
College Fees, including Tuition, Room-rent,
Servant-hire, Library, &c.. Fifty Dollars, payable
I in advance, viz: thirty dollais on the 16th of Jan
uary, and twenty dollars on the Ist of August.

Pocket Book, about half worn, containing
one hundred and thirty or thirty-five dollars—a
one hundred dollar bill on the Georgia Raihoad

grove, amounts nor date not recollected, —also a
bill of groceries, bought of C. B. Hitt & Co., and a
Tavern bill. I suppose I lost it at the ticket office
