Louis offljn GOELICKE,
of Carman y.
The Greatest of jilt man Benefactors
Citizens of North and I’oiffA America ,
To Louts Offon GoiTicke, M. D., of Germany,
[Europe,] belongs the itjiperishable honor of adding
a new and precious doci| inc to the science of medi
cine —a doctrine which, though vehemently opposed
by many of the faculty; (of which he is a'valuable
member,) he proves to be • s well founded in truth
as any doctrine of Holy; Writ —a doctrine, upon the
verily of wnich are suspended the lives of millions
of our race, and which li? boldly challenges his op
posers to refute, viz: C'|hsurnption is a disease al
ways occasioned by a disordered state of Vis Vitae
(or Life Principle) of tile human body; often
secretly lurking in thcl system for years before
here is the least compFiint of the Lungs Jfl) —and
which may be as certanly, though not so quickly,
cured, as a common co.olor a simple headache. An
invaluably preoiou* doc|rine this, as »» imparts an
important lesson to the apparently healthy of both
sexes, teaching them til; t this insidious foe may
be an unobserved inmatl of their clayey houses”
even while they imaghje themselves secure from
ts attacks, teaching theifi V.izUhe great secret inthe
ait of preserving healthiis to pluck out the disease
when in the blade, and fat wait till the full grown
ear. 4
This illustrious benefactor of man is also entitled
to yom unfeigned gratitude, and the gratitude of a
world, for tao invention ;}t his matchless Sanative,
—whose nealing nut nvay'justly claim for it such a
title, since it has so signally triumphed over our
great common enemy, \j Consumption, both in
the fust and last stages,!—a medicine which has
thoroughly tilled the vacujim in the Materia Aledica,
and thereby proved itself Conqueror of Phy

will have abundant caustjto bless the beneucent
hiad of a kind Providence, —a medicine whose
wondrous virtues have beflu so glowingly pourtray
ed even by sune of our <|iergy, in their pastoral
visits to tee sick chamber;; by which means they
often become the happy instruments ol changing de
sponding into hope, sickmjss into health, and sad
of friends into joyfu,i|iess

and thus possesses a three-fold power,—a medicine,
which, thougn designed is a remedy for consump
tion solely, is possessed el a mysterious influence
over many diseases of the human system, —a medi

J certificate from thret members of the Medical
Profession m Germany, in Europe.
We, tue undersigned, praclitioncrs ol medicine
.n Germany, are weil aw;|ic that, by our course,
we may forfeit the friendship of some of tin lacul
tv, but not of its uenevo.eijt members, who are un
influenced by se lisii 1 hough we shall
refrain fiorn an expression of our opinion, either
of the soundness or unsoupdness of Ur. i.oelick’s
new doctrine we are hapwy to say that we deem
his Sanative too valuable not to be generally
known—foi what our eytjs behold and our ears
hear, we must believe.
We hereby sta e, that when Dr. Louis (men
Goelick tirst came uefore the German public, as
the pretended discoverer of a new doctrine and a
uew medicine, we held him in the highest con
tempt, believing and opecTl pronouncing him to be
a base impostor « d the prince ol quacks. But, on
hearing so much said about the Sanative, against it
nd for it, we were indue* d, from motives ol curi
sit merely, to make niai of its reputed virtues
upon a number of our most; hopeless patients; and
we now deem it our bounden duty (even at the
expense of self-interest) publicly to acknowledge
its efficacy in curing nut ‘only consumption, but
other fearful maladies, whjcli we have heretofore
believed to be incurable. I Our contempt foi the
discoverer of this medicine was at once swallowed
up in our utter astonishment at these unexpected
results; and, as amends for cur abuse 01 bun, Me
do frankly confess to Hie world, that we beliet e
him a philanthropist, who d’oes honor to the proies
sicn, and to our countiy, which gave him birth.
The recent adoption of shis medicine into some
0 our European hospitals, ss a sufficient guaranty
that it performs all promises. It needed not our
estimony, for wherever it is used Mis its own best

I’llliE subscriber has opened an office, at the Drug
store ol .Messrs. J. J. Robertson &(Jo., for the
treatment ol Hernia or Rupture, by means of these
uslly celebrated instruments. He has now used
them for nearly a year, and, did not delicacy forbid,
he could name several persons who have been radi
cally cured, of this truly distressing and dangerous
affection, by the useol these Trusses, besides many
others who are in a fairway of being entirely re
lieved. The following is the language of the com
mittee ol the Philadelphia Medical Society on the
Radical Cure of Hernia.
“ The instruments of Dr. Chase have effected
the permanent and accurate retention of the in
testines in every case of Hernia observed by the
committee, without material inconvenience to the
patient, and often under trials mure severe than
are usually ventured upon by those who wearother
trusses; trials that wou.d be imprudent with any

conclusions to recommend, in strong terms the in
struments of Dr. Chase to the conndence of
the profession, as the best known means ol me
chanical retention in hernia, and as furnishing the
highest chances of radical cure.”
The foi owing is from the Southern Medical and
Southern journal, published in ur own city.
“ All must admit of the radical cure ol nernia.
and that Dr. Chase’s trusses are decidedly the best
yet invented tu effect the ouject.”

ble in its essences. Its first and prominent virtue
is to subdue every vestige of inllamation, and then
acts mildly and copiously as a diuretic ; llicreb}
holding within itself, every requisite virtue, for
the subduction of this loathsome malady—and ev
ery regular graduate in medicine, will sustain the
assertion, that copious diuresis and reduction of in
flation, are the only two things necessary toefl'ect
a sound and radical cure
The most peculiar virtue of the “Cinq Jours,”
is in this, that wherever it alone has been used to
affect a cure, none of those tenacious and disagree -
able consequences which almost invariably results
from the sudden cure of Gonorrhoea, have been
known to obtain such as stricture, hernia, humoi
alis, incontinence, and a swarm of other of the
mos loathsome, perplexing, and disagreeable dis
eases, consequent upon erroneous diagnosis and
treatment of Gonorrhoea.
Those affected are requested to call and try for
themselves. If the prescriptions are weil follow
ed and fail to cure, the money will in every case be
returned.
