THE GRANITE MILLS AT WORK AGAIN.
THESE splendid Mills, erected at very heavy cost to

tam them, if not the Granite Mills, do not forget the South
\ou have the Cunningham Mills, the Atlanta, Ktowa, Le

ever thought that every barrel of Flour brought from the
North deprives the South of a quantity of food for those of
moderate means, who can now buy Flour from me at ft 00
per barrel, and that you also contribute to increase the
price of provisions for Negroes and Stock, by giving your
patronage to Foreign rather than Home Mills.

OEE what the Granite Mills are doing for the Bouth.
O They are not only holding of a bold competition with the
best Northern brands of Flour, and invite comparison, but
are bringing into general notice that heaithrui article of
food, RYE BREA . The firßt lot of Rye Flour having ta
ken so well, a second from pure White Itye has been sent
to the store.
To those unacquainted with making a deiight/tal loaf of
Rye Bread, see what Miss Leslie says below.
A good old house wife at the North will differ somewhat
from Miss Lasua, by making the Indian Meal into a soft
mush and then kneading in the Rye Flour.
dl9 JAMES L. COLEMAN.
MISB LESLIE.
Rtb ahd Indian Bread.—Sift two quarts of Rye Flour
and two quarts.of Indian Meal, and mix them well togeth
er. Boil three pints of Milk; pour it boiling hot upon the
Meal; add two teaspoonfula of Salt, stir the whole very
hard; let it stand till it only becomes a luke warm heat,
and then stir in half pint good fresh Yeast, if from the
brewery, and quite fresh a smaller quantity will suffice;
knead the mixture into a stiff dough, und set it to rife in a
pan. Cover it with a thick cloth that has been previous
ly warmed, and set it near the Are. When it is quite light
and has cracked ail over the top, make it into two loaves,
