ever thought that every barrel of Flour brought from the

CHRONICLE & SENTINEL.
[irotn our Evening Edition of yesterday.]
From the JV. O. Picayune , 12?A but.
Important from Mexico.
By the brig Luoy, Capt. Weeks, we have re
ceived files of Vera Cruz papers to the 81st, and
from the city of Mexico to the 27th. We give the
following summary of events:
After tho ejection of the Deputies from the
as detailed in the last summary of
events in Mexico, published in this paper, lirty
l*'o members met at a prjvate house on
tile 21st nit., and on the Bnbscquent day, eiirlitv
six members jx:iug present, President Ceitalics
was impeached and Don Juau Mugica y Osorio,
present Governor of Puebla, was elected. Presi
dent of the Kepublic «<i interim w ith authority to
sc-iectche place where tho Congress should re as-
Dou Marcclino Castaneda left the city of Mexico
for Pucolu to instj.ll the President elect, but ha
relused to accept t he office.
The garrison of Mexico pronounced in favor of
the plan of Guadalajara, recognizing at the same
time Ceballos as President of the Republic. Sev
eral other towns and cities have followed tho ex
ample of Mexico, among them Puebla.
The Siglo says:
“The revolution has ended. The plan of Gua
dalajara, proclaimed by soveral States, is now
adopted by all parts of the Republic, and the pro
mmciamiento of tho garrison of the capital, head
ed by the Executive, has consummated its ti inmph
and it is now the political faith of tho country.” ’
The Senate had suspended its session that it
might present no obstacle to the course of the new
order of things.
Gen. Blanco, Minister ot War, had sent a com
munication to Gen. Uragn, requesting him to
comoat once to the capital. No ministry would
be formed until he arrived.
Advices from Guadalajara stated that Uraga
would put his lorees in motion towards Mexico at
once. The state of seige had been raised in Gua
dalajara.
The Sigh says:
“ It is confidently asserted that communications
have arrived from Gen. Uraga. and that lie is will
ing to make a compromise with the Government,
recognizing President Ceballos as the Executive
ad interim, and the present Congress on condition
that they reform the constitution.”
Don Miguel Arrnjo had sent notes to several
merchants and proprietors stating that the Go
vernment asked from them u loan of $4,000 each.
It was said that President Ceballos thought of
raising a forced loan of $2,000,000,
The Conservative press all approve the onto
d'etat. The Univereel comes out against any call
ing together of Congress, but recommends tho
adoption of provisional laws to be arranged by
Gen. Uraga and other chiefs of the revolution .Don
Antonio Diaz do Arguelles has published a man
ifesto against confederation.
President Ceballos issued n proclamation ou-fche
24th, opening the j>orts of Maznthm, Ban Bias,
Altata, Tampico, Vera Cruz and Cainurgc, and
that goods imported there during their closed term
may be taken into tho interior on payment of the
corresponding duties.
A secret lengue is said to exist between the Go
vernments of the States of Puebla, Vera Cruz, Oa
jaca and Guerrero that they wili not form nor re
cognize any coalition within their borders exclud
ing other States.
Tho Spanish Government was pre-enting com
plaints of infraction of tho reciprocity treaty be
tween the two nations.
The Orden contradicts a rumor that Gen. Santa
Anna was ill, and states that ho was preparing to
leave Curthagena for Havana on liis way to Mexi
co.
A telegraphic despatch from Vera Cruz states
that on the arrival of the steamer Albatross all the
population were on tho shore exhibiting the great
est joy ut tho supposed arrival of Santa Anna.
The Sitjlo , in some remui ks on the Telmantepco
question, alter stating that tho Guanajuato com
pany bad sunk into inaction, says :
“ A rumor is prevalent that President Ceballos
