These symptoms, In part, are experienced often by sufferers
with diseases of tne Bladder, Kidneys, Gravel and Dropsy and
invariably by the injudicious or nervous and debilitated. It is a
fact, long since established, that any disease of these organs
affects tie mind more than any and all others, and if allowed to
go on—which this medicine invariably remove*—soon follows
Loss of Power, Fatuity and Epileptic Fits—in one of which the
patient may expire. Whe can say that these excesses are not
frequently followed by these direful diseases. Insanity and Con
sumption ? The record cf ths Insane Asylums and the melan
choly deaths by Consumption, bear ample witness to the truth
of these assertions. In Lunatic Asylums the most melancholy
exhibition appears. The countenance is actually sullen and
quite destitute—neither mirth nor grief ever visits It. Should a
sound of the voice occur. It is rarely art iculate.
** With woeful measures, wau Despair,
Low, sullen sounds, his grief beguiled.”
Debility is most terrible, and has brought thoumnd* upon
thousands to untimely graves ; thus blasting the ambition of
many noble youths. It can be cured by the use of this Infallible
remedy.
The mass of voluntary testimony In possession of ths proprie

embracing names well known to science and fisme. Certificates

ATiJRS’ SARSAPARILLA
A COMPOUND remedy In which we have laberedte nre
duee the most effectual alterative that can bo made. It is
a concentrated extract of Para Sarsaparilla, so combined with
other substances of still greater alterative power as to afford an
effective antidote for tne diseas s Sarsaparilla is reputed to
euie. It Is believed that such a remedy is wanted by those
who suffer from Strumous complaints, and tnat one which will
accomplish their cure must, pn. ve of Immense service to this
large class of our afflicted feliow-cit isens. How completely this
compound will do it lias been proven by experiment on many
ofttie worst cases to be found of the following complaints :
Bcrofula and Scrofulous Complaints, Eruptions and Eruptive
Diseases, Ulcers, Pimples, I Hutches, Tumors, Salt Rheum,
Scald Head, Syphilis and Syphilitic Affections, Mercurial Dis
pute, Dropsy, Neuralgia er Tic Douloureux, Debility, Dyspep
sia and ludigestiou. Erysipelas, Rose or St. Anthony'* Fire,
and indeed the whole class of complaints arising from Impurity
of the Blood.
This compound will be found a great promoter es health,
when taken in the spring, to expel tne foul humors which fes
ter iu the tilood at this season or the year. By the timely ex
pulsion of them many rankling disorders are nipped in the bud.
Multitudes c*n, by the aid of this remedy, spare, themselves
from the endurance of foul eruptions and ulcerous sores,
through which the system will strive to rid itself of corruptions,
if not assisted to do this through the natural channel* of the
bedy by an alterative medicine. Cleanse out the vitiated blood
whenever you find its impurities bursting through the akin In
pimples, eruptions or sores ; cleanse it when you find It is ob
structed and sluggish in the veins ; cleanse It whenever it is
foul, and your feelings will tell you when. Even where no
particnlar disorder isfelt, people enjoy better health, and live
longer tor cleansing the blood. Keep the I lood healthy, and ail
is well ; but with this pabulum of lire disordered, there can be
no lasting health. Sooner or later something must go wrong,
and the great machinery of life is disordered or overthrown.
Sarsaparilla has, and deserves much, the reputation of accom
plishing these ends. But the world has been egregriously ‘de
eei ved by preparations of It, partly because the drug alone has
not all the virtue that Is claimed for it, but more because many
preparations, pretending to he concentrated extracts of it, con
tain hut little of the virtue of Sarsaparilla, or any thing else.
During late years the public have been misled by large bot
tles, pretending to give a quart of Extract of Sarsaparilla lor
one dollar. Most of these have been frauds upon the sick, (or
they not only contain little, if any, Sarsaparilla but often no
curative properties whatever. Hence, bitter ami painful disap
pointment has follow >d the use of the various ext racts of Sar
saparilla which flood the market, until the name, itself is justly
despised, and lias become synonymous with imposition and
cheat. Still wc call this compound Sarsaparilla, and intend to
supply such a remedy as shall rescue rhe name from the load of
obloquy which rests upon if. And we think we have ground
for believing it has virtues w leh are irresistible by the onllnary
run of the diseases it is Intended to cure. In order to seoure
their complete eradication from the system, the remedy should
be Judiciously taken according to direction* on the bottle.

Prof. Weed: Thee wilt please accept a line io Inform thee
that the hair on my head all fell off over twenty years ago,
caused by a complicated chronic disease, attended with an erup

having reduced me to a state of dependence, I have not been

Prof. O. J. Wood—Dear Sir: In the latter part of the year
1862, while attending the State and National Law School or th#
State of New York, my hair, from a cause unknown to me, com
menced falling off very rapidly, so that in the short space of six
mqnths, the whole upper part of my scalp was almost entirely
bereft of its covering, and much of the remaining portion upon
the side aud back part of my bead shortly after became grey, so
that you will not be surprised when I tell you that upon my re
turn to the State of Indiana, my more’ casual acquaintances
were not so much at a loss to discover the cause of the change In
my appearance, as my more Intimate acqu .lutauces were te re
cognise me at all,
I at once made application to the most skilful physicians In
the count ry, but receiving no assurances from them that my hair
could agatn be restored, I was forced to become reconciled te
my fate, until, fortunately, in the latter part of the year 185 TANARUS,
your Restorative was recommended to me by a druggist, M be

The wise phystsian kaows that mss must seek the remedy of
♦very disease in the agent that is most positively antagonistic to
the cause. The ingredients of this remedy and preventive of
disease are procured at the very fountains where the disease
originates. Nature has provided that piants with healing influ
ences shall grow In the marshes and low grounds where most
rankly th# causes of intermittent fevers are generated Centu

The Amalgamation of Languages Tkere is a
growing tendency in this age to appropriate the
most expressive words of other languages, and
after a while to incorporate them into our own ;
thus the word Cephalic, which is from the Greek,
signifying “ for the bead/’ is now becoming popu
larized in connection with Mr. Spalding’s great
Headache remedy, but it will soon be used in a
more general way, and the word Cephalic will be
come as common as Electrotype and many others
whose distinction as foreign words has been worn
away by common usage until they seem “ native
and to the manor born.”

jggT Headache la the favorite sign by which
nature makes known any deviation whatever from
the natural state of the brain, and viewed in this
light it may be looked on as a safeguard intended
to give notice of disease which might otherwise
escape attention, till too late to be remedied ; and
its indications should never be neglected. Head
aches may be classified under two names, viz :
Symptomatic and Idiopathic. Symptomatic Head
ache is exceedingly common and is the precursor
of a great variety of diseases, among which arc
Apoplexy, Gout, Rheumatism and all febrile dis
eases. In its nervous form it is sympathetic of
disease of the stomach constituting sic* headacht,
of hepatic disease constituting hihous headache, of
worms, constipation and other disorders of the
bowels, as well as renal and uterine affections.
Diseases of the heart are very frequently attended
with Headaches; Ansemia aud plethora are also
affections which frequently occasion Headache.
Idiopathic Headache is also very common, being
also usually distinguished by the name of nervous
headache, sometimes eoming on suddenly in estate
ot apparently sound health and prostrating at
onee the mental and physical energies, am? in
other instances it comes oh slowly, heralded by
depressien of spirits sad sscerbity of temper. In
most instances the pain is in the front of the head,
over one or both eyes, and sometimes provoking
vomiting ; under this class may also be named
Neuralgic.
For the trsatmeut of cither class of Headache
th# Cephalic Pills have been found a sure and safe
remedy, relieving the most acute pains in a few
minutes, and by its subtle power eradicating the
disease of which Headache is the unerring index.

Constipation or Cost! venose.
No one of the “ many ills that flesh is heir to”
•is so prevalent, so little understood, and so much
neglected as Costiveness. Often originating in
carelessness or sedentary habits, it is regarded ax
a slight disorder of too little consequence to ex
cite anxiety, while in reality it is the precursor
aud companion of many of the most fatal and dan
gerous diseases, and unless early eradicated it
will bring the sufferer to an untimely grave.
Among the lighter evils of which Costiveness is
the usual attendant, are Headache, Colic, Rheuma
tism, Foul Breath, Piles, and others ot like na
ture, while a long train ©f frightful diseases such
as Malignant Fevers, Abscesses, Dysentery, Diarr
hea, Dyspepsia, Apoplexy, Epilepsy, Paralysis,
Hysteria, Hypochondriasis, Melantholy and In
sanity, first indicate their presence in the system
by this alarming symptom. Not nnfrequently the
diseases named originate in Constipation, but take
an independent existence unless Ihe cause is
eradicated in an early stage. From all these con
siderations it follows that the disorder should re
ceive immediate attention whenever it occurs,
and no person should neglect to get a box of Ce
phalic Pills on the first appearanoe of the com
plaint, as their timely use will expel the insidious
approaches of disease and destroy this dangerous
foe to human life.
