tia thereof.
A Proclamation.

k/ recited Aft,’ which is in the
▼ following words, viz.

in the ter vice of this fate , for discharging
the jaid droops, and for cmeAing and Je~
curing the public arms'.

Repre/en'atives of the state of Georgia,
in General AJJembly met, and by the authority
of thejame, That the pay of the officers and
loldiers in the service of the date, fliall be the
fame as the militia whpn^on afttial service;
and that the Auditor he direfted to liquidate
the tefpeftrve claims, upon proper vouchers
being produced, and lhalf grant each officer
and soldier a certificate for the amount of pay
due them ; which)faid certificates Ihall be re
ceived at the Treasury as othe r audited cer
tificates are.
And to the intent that no officer or soldier
who is not aftuallv in the service of the Hate at
thisprefenttims ftnll receivepay; Be it matted\
That there fliall be a general mutter of the
said regiment, at the town of Wafliington,
within th'rCe months from the passing of this
Aft, and that no officer or private (hall be
entitled to receive'his pay, unless he makes
his appearance at the said mutter, or fends a
fufficient excuse, on oath or affirmation, that
he has been prettented from attending, by
fickhtft or feme 6'rher unavoidable calamity.
Proviaed; That no man who is how returned
a defenef, ihall be 'entitled to receive pay,
nor any perfhn who hasferved as a substitute.
And be itfunhdr snatted, That on the day

and the store-keeper shall immediately for

by required to make a return of the number
of men in their refpeftive companies, witlr
the dates of their enlistment, which Ihall be
sworn to before the Auditor, in the words

And be it further enatttd, That the (fid

land, as is pointed out to them refpeftively

trufled with any species of public property,
fliall be accountable for the fame, and fliall
not be ratified to recetVe either his pa* or
bounty as aferefaid, until he fliall return the
arms so received by him or them and a re
ceipt or acquittance for such public property
be produced to the Auditor.
And be it fur the* enattea, That in case of
the death of any of the soldiers, then the
captain or commanding officer of the com
pany, fliall give a Certificate of the fame to
the legal representative of such person, who
ihall be entitled to his pay and other emolu
ments, on producing the fame to the Auditor.
Be it also enatttd by tbe authority afore said ,
That from and’after the passing of this Aft,
the Governor Ihall have full power to dis.
charge the said troops, and take such further

public property which may be forthcoming ;
and that he also be direfted and required to
cattfe the commauding officers of the different
brigades of militia within this state, to have
immediate returns made from each brigade,
of the persons exempted from militia duty
therein, under the law authoring the enlift
meut of substitutes, together with a copy of
the certificates given to the individuals claim
ing such exemption ; and that the lufpeftor-
General be also required to make a return of
the substitutes aftually received, aud that
have bCen in service,

I HAVE THEREFORE, in pursuance of
the powers veiled in me, thought fit to ilfue
this my Proclamation, notifying to ihe officers
aud soldiers of the state troops, who areconi
preuended within the purview of the afore
recitcd Aft, that on Tuefdaf, the eighth day
of February ntffct, a general muster be held
at the town of Wafliington ; at which time
and place, all officeis and soldiers, as in the
aft rieYcribed, are direfted and required to
attend under the forfeitures in the said Aft

certain bounties of land are prorrified to the
the officers and soldiers pointed out in the faid*
Aft, it is therefore clearly to be underflood,
hat no liquidation of pay intended to be itoadC
on the part of the ftateby the Auditor, fliaH

to the said bounty, from claiming the fame
at any future period, when appropriations
(hall be /hade by the General Alfembly. And
the commanding officers of the different bri
gades of militia within this Hate, are hereby
directed and required, “ to have immediate

«• persons exempted from militia duty there
“ in under the law authorizing the enlifl
«* iwent of lubflitutes; together with a copy
« ol the certificates given to the individuals
“ claiming such exemption ”
And the ligal representatives of those
who may be deceased, ttiall avail hemfelvea
of the benefits that may ? have accrued by vir
tue of this Aft, at the,time and place al
ready notified.—And I do hereby require all
officers, civil and military, and all others
whom it may concern, to pay .due regard,
and firiftly to perform the duties required of
each of them in the said ; recited aft.
GIVEN under my Hand, and the Great
Seal of the said State, at the State
house in Augufia, this thirty-firft
day of Dec. in the Year of our Lord,
one thousand, fevcu hundred and
eighty-nine ; and in the fourteenth

NOTICE is hereby given, that in behalf
of Peier Wikoff, I intend to apply to
the- Superior (Jouit of the county us Burke,
to ettabiifli his right and title to tvro fevetai
t rafts of laud, situate in the said epunty of
Burke, one containing four hundred acres,
the other oue hundred and fifty acresrmoie or ,
left*, adjoining each other, for which a con
veyance was executed to him by Abraham
Lundy and his wile (which conveyance is
lofl and previous to my applicatioh, (hall
depofite in the Clerk’s office of that county,
