GENERAL - ORDERS .
THfc. Adjutant General is direct
ed to cause the several companies of
- within the refpeftive counties to be so
arranged as to contain as near as may be,
four sergeants, four corporals,,one drum, one
file, and sixty-sour privates*; and that he report
the rank and number of field officers to be
eommiflioned in each county.

To put the above general orders into ex
ecution issued by the Commander in Chief of
this date—The Commanding Officers in the
several counties will cause all Officers com
manding companies to give me a return of
tJ eir refpeftive companies, containing the
number of men liable to do militia duty, by
Virtue of an aft entitled, “an aft to revise and
amend the militia law of thia slate ; paffied
the 14th day of December 179a*” that I may
from laid returns leport to the Commander
in Chief of this Bate the rank, and number
of Field-Officers, that are to be commiffioucd
in each county by virtue of said aft.

whose exertions will be courted to give fomc
originality to the Augusta Chronicle.

engagements , in gratitude for the support he
has experienced, no effort or expence will
be omitted to serve and to please bis fellow ci

has lately opened a fma 1 thop, for the
pre.ent* near the middle ware-boufe, where
he carries on the BLACK and WHITE
SMITHS business in all its various branches ;
and as he Batters himlelf, that he is capable of
doing justice in both the aforefaid branches,
he hopes, he will meet with fuefc encourage
ment as wiil enable bun to carry it on exteu
fively.
N. B. Wanted an apprentice to the above
business, who is able to work, and can be well
recommended.

UPON the petition of the Csmmiflioner*
of the town of Augusta, praying the
foreclose of the equity of redemption of one
lot of land in the town of Augusta aforefaid,
known by the number eleven, containing
one acre, bounded on the north by the Bay
ftreet, on the weft by lot number ten, on
tbeTouth by Reynold street and on the east
by Lincoln street— mortgaged by the said
Jnhn Lamar, to the Commiffionera of Augusta
aforefaid, for the security of a sum of money
contained in a bond of the said John Lamar—
And on motion of Mr. Seaborn jones—
Ordered , That the principal, interest and
code upon the said bond and mortgage be paid
into Court* within twelve months from this
day; and unless the fame lhall be paid, the
equity of redemption will from thenceforth
be foreclofed, and other proceedings take
place, purfuaut to an aft of the General
Assembly in such cases made and provided.

bound southerly by Broad-street, weftwardly
by Elbert-street, northerly by Reynold-street,
and eifterly by lot No. 25, mortgaged by
Samuel Elbert, in his lifetime to the Cora
roiffioners of Augusta aforefaid, for the secu
rity of a sum of money contained in a bond
of the said Samuel Elbert, now deceafcd, and
on motion of Mr. Seaborn lones—
Ordered, That the principal, interest and
costs upon the said bond and mortgage be
paid mto Court, within twelve months of
this day, and unless the fame be so paid, the
equity of redemption, will from thenceforth
be foreclofed and other proceedings take
place, pursuant to the aft of Afferably in

Francis Willis. j closure.
UPON the petition of his Excel
lency the Governor, praying the fore
clofure of the equity of redemption of certain
lauds situated in the County of Wilkes,
mortgaged by the said Francis Willis, to
the Governor for the time being and his
fucceftors in office, for the security of a sum
of money contained in a bond of the said
Francis Willis, and on motion of Mr.
Attorney General,
Ordered, That (he principal, interest and
cost upon the said bond and mortgage be
paid into Court within twelve months from
this day, and unless the fame (hall be paid,
the equity of redemption will from thence
forth be foievcr forclofed, and other proceed
ings take place, pursuant to tbc aft of Af
fembiy in such caie made and palled on the
ninth day of December in the year of our
Lord one thonfand leven hundred aud
ninety.
Aud it is further Ordered, in pursuance of
the said aft that this rule be publithed in one
of the gazettes of this state, or served on the
mortgager or his attorney, at least nine
months previous to the time wbeu the money
is ditefted to be paid as aforefaid.

Cheftey Boftwick. j foreclofure.
UPON the petition of the comtniffionere
of the town of Augusta, praying the
oreclofure of the equity of redemption of alt
hat lot of land in the town of Angufta afore*
said, known by the number thirty-eight, con*
taining one acre, bounded northerly by Broad*
street, easterly by lot number thirty-nine,
southerly by Eliis-ftrcet, and easterly by lot
number thirty -fevcn. And aifo all that lot of
land in Augusta aforefaid, known by the num*
ber sixty-eight, containing half an acre*
bounding southerly by Reynoid-ftreef, caftcr*
1 y by M‘lntolh-ftreet, northerly by lot num*
ber four, and weftedy by lot number fixty*
seven, mortgaged by the said Cheftey Boft
wick, to the commiftioners of Augusta afore*
faij) for the security of a sum of money con*
tained in a bond of the said Cheftey Boftwick.
And on motion of Mr. Seaborn jones, Or
dered, That the principal, interest and eofta
upon the said bond and mortgage be paid in
to court within twelve months from this day ;
and unless the fame Shall be so paid, the equi
ty of redemption will from thenceforth be
foreclofed, and other proceedings take place
pursuant to an a£t of the General Aftcmbly in
such cases made and provided.
And it is further Ordered, That this Rule
be published in one of the Gazettes of tbie
state, or served on the mortgagor or his attor
ney* at least nine months previous to the
time when the money is direfted to be paid
as aforefaid.

THE Adjutant-General is direfted to *
cause one company of
Light Infantry or Rifte-mco to be formed in
each Battalion of the Militia of this state.
When Volunteer Companies of Artillery,
or Troops of Horfc have been formed in con*
sequence of the application to and the ap
proval of the Commander in Chief, it Shall
be the duty of the Captain of such
to complete an enrollment thereof within ten
days after the receipt of his commiftion, and
furnish the Adjutant-General with a certified
copy thereof.

the water of the Big Beaver dam, about 5
miles from Bridges' fort.
900 acres of land in Wilkes county, on
the waters of Soap and Wells' creek, and
joins jones’ valuable trad at the mouth of
Soap creek where it empties into Savannah
river.
Also, fevcral surveys of good oak and hic
kory lands, on the waters of the river Oconee
iu Franklin county.
The platts and grants may be seen, and
prices knowu, by applying to me at this place,
any time before the 25th of this month.
