SHERIFFS SALES.
On lU JirJi Tuefday in January next, at Wilkes
county Court-house, WILL BE SOLD, between
the hours of io and i o'clock, the folio wing tracts
of land, viz.
TWO trafts in Wilkes county, one containing
600 acres, on the North fork of Little river,
near lands surveyed for Mr. Beckham; the other,
200 acres, on Long creek, bounded on one tide
by lands of Daniel jackfon, and on all other tides
by vacant land at the time of surveying; taken un
der execution as the property belonging to the
estate of William Candler, deceased.
Two tracts in Franklin county containing 1150
acres each, one of the said trads of the firit qua
lity, bounded by lands of Micajah Williamson and
Washington County line ; the other 1150 acres,
bounded on two lides by said Wtlliamfon’s land ;
taken under execution as the property of colonel
Micajah Williamson. ’
200 acres in the said county of Franklin, part
of a tfatt of 1000 acres, granted in the name of
Grant Taylor; taken under execution as the pro
perty of John Wallis.
Likewise 150 acres in Wilkes county, on the
waters bf Mill creek, adjoining lands of Peyton
Wyatt and Colonel George Dooley, including the
plantation whereon William Norman now lives;
taken under execution as the property of Richard

will thankfully receive all kind , of produce, to be
fold, (flipped or stored. Constant attendance w ill
be given, and there is every necefiarv convenience for
ilifpatch, landing and loading at any time of tide.
There is a Blacksmith’s ihop on the wharf, where
all kinds of iron work will be done in the aeateil
and belt manner, and on reasonable term.

Notwithstanding Coi. James stai
lings, and his brother Capt. Ezekiel Stal
lings,*, are pleased to deny that Hunt, Stallings
and Co. have made any legal alignment to us of
their personal property, stock in trade and debts;
yet in justice to ourselves, and to thole whom
their publication of the 28th is intended to mil
lead—We do hereby again notify thole concerned,
that the fubferibers, or Mr. Stratford Brown for
us, are the only persons to whom, those who axe
indebted to Hunt, Stallings and Co. can w'ith
fafety make payment—We do further forwarn
the public againlt purchasing from Col. James Stal
lings the following negroes, or cither of them, viz.
Dick, Peg, Fortune, Sylvia, Nancy, Mary and
her three children—as alio againlt purchasing from
him any other fpccies of the personal property in
his poffclfion, th,e fame being included in the af
lignment to us, a copy of which alignment is on
record in the Clerk’s-Office of the Superior Court
of Richmond County, and the original may at
any time be seen on application at the late itore
of Hunt, Stallings and Co.

proved and recorded, and repeatedly acknowledg
ed by Col. James Stallings, before the most ref
peCtable gentlemen of this town, evinces clearly
that it-was not surreptitiously obtained* we lin
cerely wilh, as much could be said in favor of the
means used by the gentlemen to obtain that credit
jn England, which has been so great a misfortune
.to us.

Shadrick Kmiebrew, and from said Kine.brew tome.
I judge that said vegroe is carried into the lower
parts of this flute. Any person that will it liver the
said vegroe to me, or fee art him so that I may get 1
him, jha.ll receive the above reward by me, and on j
conviction of the thief, 20 dollars.

WHEREAS on the 23d of August 1792,
Messrs. Hunt, Stallings and Co. merchant.*
and factors of this place, afligned over their stock
in trade, book debts, bonds, notes and every fpc
cies of property belonging to that Co-partncrfhip,
as well as every part of their personal property, by
an instrument now on the records of Richmond
county, to us Birch and Ouvry, merchants of the
city of London, and other of their creditors, for
a debt then due usfor property before -advanced the
said Hunt, Stallings and Co. to carry on their bu
siness here with the planters as merchants and j
factors.—Thefe are to request that all persons 1
indebted to that firm, or to the personal estate of
either of the Co-partners, and also all those plan
ters which the house of Hunt, Stallings and Co.
are indebted to for produce put into their hands
oncommiflion, will apply before the Ift of Janua

HTH E bufipefs of the Academy being entered
X into and cohfidered— Rcfoloed, that in fu
ture there Hull be a public examination of the
students, annually, on tire Monday preceding
Chriltmas day; and that the Academy shall be
again opened on the firft Monday in January fol
lowing.
Refolvcd, That there shall be also quarterly ex
aminations ; that is, on the firft Mondays in April,
July and October.
Refolvcd , That during the annual vacation, the
President for the time being thall assign a day for
the reappointment of the officers ; at which time
a President and Clerk of the Board, a Re&or, and
two Aififtants of the Academy, shall be appointed
for the ensuing year.
Refolvcd, 1 hat the Master and Assistants be
provided for in the following manner:—The Reftof
shall have a salary of f fly pounds , and the Assistants
twenty-five pounds each ; and the proceeds of the
tuicion shall be apportioned between them, accord
ing to their refpe&ive salaries.
T Refolvcd, That the rates of tuition, after the
next vacation, be as follows:—The firft class two
dollars; the second three dollars j and the third
four dollars per quarter.
Refolvcd, That a quarter’s tuition shall be paid
at entrance; and that, at the commencement of
each quarter thereafter, a note of hand, fatisfado
ry to the mailer, shall be given by the person en
tering the student, for the amount of the ensuing
quarter’s tuition, and payable to the bearer, three
months after date, tor value received : All which
notes shall be deposited with the clerk, to be en
tered in the books; and which the master and
assistants may jointly apply for and receive before
. the expiration of the quarter; and such notes as
shall not be so taken out, shall be collected by the
clerk in the moil summary way.
Refolvcd, That the clerk be allowed for his ser
vices thirty pounds per annum.
Refolvcd, That William Rogers, Esq. the late
Redlor, have power to open the Academy, upon
the terms of the last year, until Monday preceeding
the ensuing Christmas-day, inclusive ; and that the
Rev. Doctor Boyd be continued in his fun&ions
therein to the fame period.
Ordered, That the board meet on Monday next,
to take measures for repairing the Academy.
Ordered, That the foregoing proceedings be
published, that candidates mavgive in theii names
to the clerk, for the places of Reftor and assistants,
and for undertaking the said repairs.

AGREEABLE to the order ot the 23d instant,
the Board attended and examinedthe condi
tion of the Academy, and find that a new lower
floor weft from the cellar wall, and new weather
boarding on the fouth fide of the house, are essen
tial.
Refolvcd therefore, That such repairs be forth
with ma'k, with good seasoned boards, and new
cills and flecpcrs to the floor.
Ordered, That persons wishing to undertake the
fame, finding all materials, do fend in their pro
posals to the Clerk on or before Monday next,
sealed.
